5th gear & reverse light!

Apparently when I'm in 5th gear my reverse light comes on, but when I pull the stick back towards the gate it goes out. Obviously this is just a dodgy sensor / switch but how easy is it to rectify?

I think you will find its easy.
Looking at my engine and box sitting on my garage floor the reverse light switch sits on a bracket. It has a ball bearing type contact and when reverse is selected the gearstick contacts the bracket. Your bracket is bent mate and just needs bending back so that it doesn't contact when you engage fifth gear.

Your biggest problem will be crawling inder the car to get to it.
