I am thinking about it at my next service. I already have one old cat and am looking for another ( any offers gladly received) I intend to bore them out to make a cat bypas pipe from the cat so that they cannot be detected without taking the system apart.

I presume the reason that you would want the fact that your car had been de-catted is so that come MOT time they won't see it, but then if that is the case then surely they will find out as soon as the car fails the emissions test...

You might as well just use normal stright through pipe instaed of going to the hastle of utilising old cats.

The reason is actually so that upon inspection by the feds (if pulled) you can claim they are fitted but must have been blown to bits. I understand the fine for removing and running without them can be a bit steep. Neighbour is a fabricator so it aint much hassle really. Also the mating flange for the cat is part of the downpipe by the looks of things so a straight bit of tube would not suffice.
