I need a tuscan
Discussion
I think the Tuscan owners are trying to talk the seconhand values of their cars up - have a look on Autotrader - I just did a nationwide search on Tuscan's and there are 117 available!
After a very quic look, I can see a couple of 01 models for around the £26K mark - I'm sure you could haggle them down;
2001 Y Reg Tvr Tuscan Speed Six 4.0L
Petrol, Crystal Topaz, Cabriolet, 20,000 miles , 2 Doors. Adjustable Steering Column, Air-Conditioning, Alarm, CD Changer, Electric Adjustable Mirror, Electric Windows, Front Fog Lights, Full Main Dealer History, Immobilizer, Interior Aluminium Trim, Manual Transmission, One Owner, Power-Assisted Steering, Remote Locking, UK Supplied.18 inch Alloy Wheels, Magnolia Hide, Must See. £25,950
2001 TVR TUSCAN 4.0 Speed Six 2dr Convertible
Chamaeleon Orange, Full hide tan, 18" Alloys, CD Changer, AirCon, New Clutch and Top Block, FTVRSH. 10000 miles. £26000 .

GingerNinja thats rubbish. Good cars hold their value, bad cars don't
Look at the first ad. It is clearly wrong and suggests either a dealer that doesn't know what they are doing, or an individual that doesn't.
Either way, its a "walk away" type ad.
The fact remains that good second hand Tuscans hold their value well provided certain rules are applied.
Popular colours are a good bet, some of the yellows and pinks that you can buy seem to drop like a stone, but the classy greys, and the deep blues and greens always seem to do well.
As such, Chameleon Orange is hardly likely to be an easy to sell car, hence its price.
Likewise a tatty looking car (and trust me, there are a lot around) that has been thrashed and not looked after will always be worth less than a pampered example.

Not necessarily. If the ads are in a system that require box ticking to determine categories then the petrol and cabrio bits may have been added automatically.
Hmmmm - well you certainly told me.
...but let me just point out that depreciation could never been put down to something as simple as good car/bad car...
Again, quick search through Autotrader shows I can pick up a 1998 S-Reg BMW 740 fully loaded for about 10K (and there are loads of these), or for the same money, an 1998 S-Reg Golf Gti.
Both arguably good cars, I'd have to say the BMW is the better car, and cost substatially more new.
I'd stick to creating your Tuscan only website if I was you mate, and stay away from posting comments until you've got half a clue.

[quote=bluetusk]Hmmm... you ought to try selling a Tuscan then.
I think 25k sounds about right...
How long did it take you to sell yours bluetusk? what was the spec? mine was in brillaint condition and took 7 months, inc two dealers trying to flog it for me!!

the 01 car has been serviced with chris neil from new and just serviced 1000 miles ago it had a rebuild last year due to finger followers. its in good nick and has had two new rear tyres put on.
i spoke to chris neils and they said the car is good.
the interior is in good condition and the paintwork seems ok. only 1 alloy needs refurbished.
he will take 25000 which is cheap for a y reg in this colour

I reckon the resale values for TVRs in general have a great deal to do with the profile of the typical TVR owner.
A lot of cars, Tuscans particularly, seem to be sold on from new after 2-3 years around the time the warranty expires or a mileage around 12-15k is reached.
These owners then purchase new TVR's.
This results in a continual and sizeable stock of 2nd hand cars in comparison with the size of the TVR market place which keeps the prices down.
We are seeing Griff values levelling and for some models going up!!!! which i would guess is due to a now very limited quantity of vehicles not just for sale but in existence but without a reduction in the traditional demand.
Like house prices, resale value only matters if you go outside TVRs and purchase something else.
When i come around to upgrade my Tuscan for a 2nd hand S theoretically any depreciation in my cars value will also have occurred with the S. Then it is a matter of negotiating the difference.
My current Tuscan cost me my old 99T Chimaera +£10k.

Gingerninja...
So you think that a Sorbet Yellow car (for example) would not depreciate faster than a more popular colour?
Of course it would.
Just because you don't own a Tuscan (just a hunch), maybe you should stick to dreaming rather than running down the value of other peoples cars.

It all depends what you paid for your car to start with - I paid £23k for mine a year ago and just sold it for £20,500 (see my profile for details) - pretty good depretiation for a Tuscan!
Mine needed a front end respray but was mechanically a very sound car.
I know of other 00 cars that have sold for similar money

TuscanPlanet - just so we've got this quite clear, your definition of a bad car is one with a less than desirable colour? It's just in your first reply (shortly after you tell me I'm talking rubbish) you say bad cars depreciate more than good cars, and then to clarify your well argued point, you cite colour?
I can imagine your conversation with your local TVR dealer;
Dealer: Well Sir, do you have any idea as to what type of car you're looking for?
TuscanPlanet: Ooooh you know - I've a real hankering for a blue one.
And you are quite correct, I don't own a Tuscan. But am saving up for a new one.
Kindly indicate where I've said anything in this thread that would run down the value of a 2nd hand Tuscan? Unless you count pointing out that 01 Tuscs are available for 26K on Autotrader....?

Nothing really - I needed the cash quickly for a house so let it go for a price I was happy with. It did have 20k on the clock and no A/C.
There are a few A/C cars for £23k so with needing a front end respray and no a/c I think it was about right
I think you did very well to get £25k if you look at the PH classifieds
