Am I missing something ??
Discussion
No (not unless you're trolling...long story and I am sure you wouldn't be)
Sometimes posts capture the PH mood and sometimes they don't - generally people won't be up for setting up particular websites because we all come here for the news and views - why reinvent something that's already good? Stick with it!

Ok, never mind.
I just thought it would be nice to have a "proper" Tuscan website. This forum is fun but it is "just" a forum.
A dedicated Tuscan website could be so much more. It could have a Tuscan register, photo competitions, independant reviews of dealers (which we cant do on here apparently), warnings about bad dealers, advice on how to sort out problems with TVR (lets face it, lots of people clash swords with Wheelers army from time to time).
Anyway, like I said, never mind.
Out of interest though, what is the "long story" that you mentioned.

It's simply that you're new, you've not shown the website and you're asking for people to send pictures of their cars to you.
You need to establish yourself a bit before anyone will sit up and take notice. Get the website underway, tell us about you, your car, join in the conversations etc.

Ok, thanks.
I guess the problem is a bit chicken and egg though.
The website is the content is the website etc.
I can't build anything of any interest until I have some content.
Plus, I was really hoping to make a big part of the website an owners gallery, searchable by date / colour / trim / engine / spec and so on, with regular prizes for the "best" photograph.
I've already got some great prizes lined up, I thought people would jump at the chance.
Thanks for the reply though.

Sounds a bit lame and even perhaps a bit suspicious.
Why not create a framework site that people can have a look at and might feel like contributing to? If you can't be bothered to do that to start with then I'd question your motives for asking for pictures of people's cars.
If you had the genuine interest and enthusiasm for creating such a site you'd be a lot further along the development path than you are now.

There really is something going on here that I don't know about isn't there?
Who is "that nice Mondo Dynamo"?
Surely you can see that without any potential contributors, it is pointless building a website. And from the response I'm getting such as "sounds a bit sus", I'm really a bit stuck.
Its just that there is currently no website that just caters for Tuscans, and I though it would be fun for a few like mind Tuscan freaks to write some articles, take some photos, and then, hey presto, we have something worth looking at.

Couldn't you knock up an example website - you must have some vision of what it will look like - and use some photos from Luca Brazzi's excellent website, www.sleepy-fish.com/ for example as a starting point ?
Maybe people will get it and then send their own in ?
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Andy.
Editted to say sleep-fish is too popular at the moment for the amount of money being paid for it and so is (hopefully) temporarily offline.

Why not look at GCerbera's Cerbera website first and see what sort of things he has done and whether that is the kind of thing you are intending. There is no harm in what you suggest but he has started building a good website by meeting a few people and getting pictures of their cars, going to meets etc.
Just asking people to send you pictures of their cars with no framework in which to imagine how they will appear will not meet with much of a response. Sorry.

I wouldn't really be interested in a Tuscan-only website. The attraction of this site is that not only does it cover the different models of TVR, but also other types of car as well. Limiting your site to Tuscans only isn't going to attract that much attention in my opinion.
Ok, I beg to differ.
I think that there is a load of Tuscan info out there, its just not easy to find.
And there is not a single website out there that features photographs of Tuscans in a stylish way (no offence intended). Other marques / models have owners clubs, websites, photo competitions and all sorts of stuff.
Plus, I'm not trying to turn a profit from it. Its all free, no ads or anything like that, just a fun "Tuscan only" project.

No offence Mondo, I mean Tuscan Planet, but I think the lack of responses to your post would indicate that you are in the minority.
Most info on Tuscans can be found by either searching the archives on this forum, or by posting a question, and there are several websites where you can find pictures of Tuscans.
You'd probably get a much better response if you create your site with a small number of pictures, then ask people to contribute. I might be getting cynical in my old age, but I'm not going to send pics of my car to a complete stranger who's first post is to offer prizes for the best Tuscan photograph.

Mondo?
All I have done is to suggest a photo competition, and a website and you accuse me of being someone else.
What is all this Mondo business?
If there is no one on here who would like a Tuscan only website then fine, no skin off my nose. There are NO decent Tuscan websites anywhere on the web, none at all. So why get all cross and annoyed when someone suggests putting one together?

All people have suggested is that there doesn't appear to be much call for what you're suggesting, and that you'd probably get a better response if you actually knock up a site first, then ask for contributions to it.
No one's stopping you from creating this site if you really want to do it.
