Was musing recently on the spoilers and splitters fitted to S's. Anyone know what they're for ?

They're either
a) cosmetic to distinguish an S from an standard Tuscan or
b) they're there to prevent 'TT' style lift off at speed. ie for genuine aerodynamic safety reasons.

If its a) then arguably they don't improve the look of the thing BUT what I'm really asking is that IF its b) shouldn't they be fitted to all Tuscans given that they all go like stink ?

Its (b) Ive got the Tuscan S in Moonreaker black, I think it make the car look more agressive....but it does distrupt those flowing lines....

I was able to borrow an "s" for 2 days whilst my normal tusc was in the doctors.
I have to say the gear change and acceleration were smoother, but the spoiler does not do it for me..
CAn you order a new "s" without it?

No.
They do enhance the aerodynamics.
I like the spoiler actually. Extends the lines and makes it look a little more agressive.

If thats what you call agressive, I guess your choice of dog is a pikaneese (if thats how its spelt - but who cares), the spoiler is about agressive a fart in a wet paper bag, and about as much use.

As for enhancing the looks - how can one enhance pure beuty. One can't.

As for practicality, every time you put your clubs in - the spoiler gets wacked.

Its crap!

I agree with Steve - I think it makes the car look more agressive, but I do think it also depends what colour the car is.

Some colours seem to suit the spoiler, others don't.

I think mine looks better with the spoiler than without, but that's just my opinion!

It does actually help the rear stay planted to the road at high speed. I used to have a RR tuscan and it would definitely go light at the rear at high speed. It used to get a bit dodgy under heaving breaking around 150 mark

I haven't driven an S at high speed, but the standard Tuscan could definitely do with some extra stability when you lift off at NSL x 2.5

Mine has a tendency to drift about a bit when you start to slow down which can be mildly worrying if you only have two lanes to play with - on a private test track of course

Although it seems totally stable as long as you keep the accelerator stuck to the floor – I think it’s trying to tell me it doesn’t like slowing down

I think it must help. Ask anyone who has driven a standard Tuscan at speed and then driven a 'S' and most say the 'S' is much more stable.

well TVR supposedly styled the spoilers as an afterthought in a wind tunnel so they should work.

Obviously though, more downforce = lower top speed, so my mighty Red Rose should have a top speed of 196 in comparison the the S's 195

Seriously, I have not felt my car getting light, front or rear at speed (up to 182mph on an airfield) but then I do have a £19 lip spoiler fitted, which I'm sure helps

Well my pekanese eats small children and pisses on doormen so yes it's very aggressive!

As for bashing your clubs on the spoiler I suggest you go to a gym because you obviously dont have the strength to lift them over the 'massive' spoiler...

My car was a Chameleon Blue car and yes it went well!

I have driven a Tuscan without the spolier during a two hard days with Ride Drive and my own "S" with. There is a difference in favour of the car with the spoiler. As for looks..well that's down to individuals opinions, but I think it's groovy.
