Tuscan vs boxster Tottenham Court Road
Discussion
Saw a lovely black tuscan (red interior, black numberplates (02), white lettering) having a, ahem, bit of a race with a boxster up Tottenham Court road at about 11.15 last night. If you are on here I bet you are glad when the BiB in the unmarked police car decided to disclose their presence that you were in front......................
Ive seen that car - it is absolutely stunning and the plate although illegal looks great.
However when I saw it, it was thundering down the Strand
I have to say that I love trouncing Porkers, Ferraris etc but I tend to do it when Im away from pedestrians.
There isnt really much fun in horsing around town unless you are a spotty youth trying to pull some pre-pubescent schoolgirl

Have to say I agree. The road as you can imagine was pretty busy and the porsche got what he deserved. The tuscan driver whilst v lucky (and the owner of a lovely car - sorry the plates whilst illegal do look good) wasn't exactly giving tuscan owners a good name. Come to mention it when I peered into the car from the lofty heights of my scooter he did have an all in one rubber suit on and I think shades!!??
I was hoping he would reply so I could post this legend!!!
Kev - by the way what car do you have?

Why waste valuable Optimax showing Boxters a clean pair of heels. Anyone in a Boxster fancying their chances against a Tuscan is a complete muppet, and clearly knows nothing about cars.
As someone who owns a Tusc and also drives a Boxster S I take great exception to that comment. Both are superb at what they do best, and yes I do know a bit about cars.

Point is the boxster is clearly outperformed by the Tuscan - which I am sure you are well aware of.

Boxsters are fantastic cars as is the Tuscan whatever variant. The issue between performance is and always will come down to the driver - Im sure there are Boxster drivers who can outdrive some Tuscan drivers.
The point is safety. If you want to prove it get off to some back roads/track/wasteground/airstrip and have some fun - doing it in a city proves you shouldnt have a high performance car.
Ive seen a Boxster S outrun a 360/911 on the track - all down to the driver. Ive also seen Elises/Exiges outdrive more expensive models.
Give an idiot with some cash a Tuscan and he will plough it within 30 minutes.
However on a lighter not - the Boxster is as one journalist put it "a bit like a deer stalker hat - doesnt know whether it is coming or going"

Sure, and I didn't mean to open a can of worms, but we were talking about Tottenham Court Road here - i.e. straight line speed - not a race track, not twisty roads, not anywhere that driver skill would have played a part (unless one of them forgot how to press the accelerator pedal).
let's all chill
Parked in the underground car park near Cabot square yesterday, on the walk from my car to the exit on the first floor counted 15 boxsters and that wasn't the whole level just the ones that happened to be on my exit route.
Had the use of a box. S for a w/end, no doubt at all that the tuscan (standard) would in most, if not all scenarios trounce it.
Mind you their bloody popular ;-)

Re- enacted your scenario today, except I wasn't racing, just taking the Tusc for a holiday to Walldonway and being followed by Hubby in Boxster S to collect me. We played around a bit and I reckon most of the other vehicles on the A & M20 thought we were at it. Great fun. (well within NSL's of course) .
Wont half miss my car while we are away but she should be looking sharp on return. Fresh paint hmmm.

Yeah but Cabot Square is investment banking central (apart from the city of course) so no real surprise there.
Probably a few 911s in there as well.
