Posted back in July that I was having to sell my beaut as a possible 6-7K rebuild would have caused me to have to sell her.

Found out yesterday that TVR have footed a vast majority of the bill and that I'll be mobile again next week. A thanks to Racing Green and Jason @ TVR for all your help.

Lost her back in July so have missed the summer but what the hell - I've got it back and on the road rather than selling and getting an Audi TT!

Happy? Me?

Super news, yet again TVR show they can be a good "customer focused" business. I am hoping for the same.

Where did you get the new emoticons?

Cheers guys, GREAT to be back and check this forum out without feeling a sick feeling in my stomach after only 3 months ownership. I've been pootling around in a Polo, grief stricken every time I saw a Tuscan wanting to but feeling a bit silly in a VW.
I first noticed that I had a problem a month after I bought it back in March I'd worked out the oil consumption to be around 350 miles per litre but was not overly distressed. I'd noticed that on here some TVRs just used more oil than others so I made sure it was fed with enough Mobile 1 and carried on enjoying the beast.

The idle speed reduce down to 500 rpm in June and the rattle started on the way back from Goodwood on the 12 July (still not sure if the two are related)

Racing Green then picked it up the following week. They checked the top of the engine and found loss of pressure in one of the ports..........off to TVR it went. I was expecting quite a few discussions as to who was going to foot the bill but rather than that got a call from R/G on Thursday saying that the work had been done and the engine had been sent back. TVR footing 80% of the bill.

I popped in yesterday and heard the engine run beautifully. All being well I'm picking her up tomorrow.

I'm sure that there are some of you out there who think I should have pushed for more but I use this as an everyday car and was just so bloody chuffed not to have to foot more of the bill and possibly sell as I’m what you might call a ‘budget’ Tuscan owner and THAT sort of money would mean a sad departure.

One point as I'm now having to go through the 1000 mile run-in looked at the warning lights and noticed I could only get them down to 4900rpm Its a 2001 (march) standard Tusk.... anybody managed to get this down to the desired RPM?

Again cheers guys, hope to see you @ the Royal Oak in the not to distant future.

Jez

Change up lights - earlier software only allowed you to set them down to 4900. Mine was the same (June '02) until the software was upgraded during a factory visit whilst the speedo needle was fixed.

Cheers,

Andy.
