People, Advice required / opinions sort. I have an eGuard Telematics traker with GPS and GSM gizmoes that locate the car whenever it is stolen, and they phone me etc etc. Very good except the car won't last for more than a WEEK, then the battery goes sufficient flat that the car won't start (doors open, but not enough juice to turn the engine). Does anyone else have any advice / opinions. Unfortunately I have no power close to the car in the underground car park at home, so the trickle charger option is a no go, but as the lights are on 24 hrs, a solar type charger maybe a cool answer. Any other experiences? To make everyone laugh, it took 2 AA vans hooked up with an additional battery box linked to that £50 cable with the Andersen plug on it, to get the car started after not using it for 2 and a half weeks. Am I happy - errrrr no.

Just got back from my hols & car started OK after 3 weeks, although I did't have the alarm on, just the immobiliser & Tracker unit (btw, reason for no alarm - it was in a secure dedicated car storage place in London & they told me to leave it off. Given it was parked next to a Vantage and a Bugatti EB110 I guessed they knew what they were talking about)

bit of bad news on the traker front but telematix have gone bump so i would that your system is still usable because they have lost the air network and you might want to try and recover your air time fee. i no this as i fitted the systems for telematix in the midlands.

Sorry Loudandfast? Does that mean that Tracker system no longer is in use? Have heard nothing from the company itself about this??? B

possibly.only telematix has gone bump,we no longer fit the devices and have had several customers trying to reclaim there air time fee from us but we only collect it on behalf of telematix, all we do is fit for telematix and pass the air time fee onto them after we have taken our fiting fee out.please check with them or the dealer that sold it to you what the situation is

I actually got notice from "Tracker" this week that they are offering free upgrades to users of the Horizon product to fix the very problem thyat you're describing. Is this the same product? Can't say I've had any trouble with mine anyway....

There always seems to be confusion over the various tracking systems. For info:

TRACKER Retrieve/Monitor/Horizon - TRACKER Network (UK) Ltd (Radio based & GPS/GSM)
RAC Trackstar (GPS/GSM)
Navtrak (GPS/GSM)
Siemens TrakBak (Radio based)
Telematix/E-Guard - In liquidation
