Is or was there such a car as a 4.2 litre Tuscan.

A guy who lives opposite me, his Brother in Law says his is a 4.2, and it says so on the paperwork.

I only thought they were 4.0 & latterly 3.6 with the S now being the 4.0.

On another point his is about 2 years old and does not have a/c.

Was Aircon and option on the Tuscan as is the case with the Cerbie & Griff/Chim.

Thanks.

Tuscan Speed Sixs are available in 4.0 and 3.6 litre variants. Within the 4.0 - there are: the standard car, the Red Rose version and now the Tuscan S. The 3.6 350bhp replaced the 360bhp of the 4.0 standard car. All cars can be specced with AC - which if I am correct, is standard on the S model.

No roadgoing Tuscans have a 4.2.

The Cerbera is available as 4.5 and 4.2 V8s as well as with the Speed Six (ie straight 6) unit - all being TVR's own engines.

That's what I thought, but he said it was definately a 4.2

Only thing I can find as 4.2 is the 0-60 time.

Is it a Tuscan Speed Six or a Tuscan Racer?

If its the latter it could be a 4.2 AJP Engined version.

Its also not beyond the realms of reasonability to find that the DVLA have made a mistake...

The tuscan R has a 4.2 lump. No stats yet on 0-60 etc
just read in excess of 200mph. Stats on Castle web page. 70k if you want one. That works out 10k for every extra 10mph......ish

The production is 1 per month with a 30 month order book.

There are also no T400R/T440R's on the road so that sort of rules that one out...

Strangely, Elephant would only give me a quote for a 4.2 Tuscan....

Is the racer a 4.2? How about the original from the 60s/70s?

Quite likely just lack of knowledge on behalf of Brother-in-law. I got into a 'debate' with a bloke in Via Fossa when I was back in London last month. Aparently his brother has a 2002 4.2 Chimaera. He wouldn't entertain the fact that there was never such an engine size in the Chimaera and was adamant that his brother had one. (I even suggested it might be an older 4.3). I came to the conclusion that either his brother had a Cerbera or was a Muppet.

And just to add to the confusion, TVR themselves are advertising used Tuscan stock with 3.8, 4.0 and 4.2 litre engines here. WTF?

His is definately a roadgoing Tuscan, I have seen it.
It had a private plate on, but I think it is about 2 years old.

He didn't know how to open the bonnet though, so couldn't have a look under the hood.

He was adamant it was a 4.2

If they can't quote the colours correctly - how the are they gonna get the engine size right???????

Ahhh....that's TVR true to style. Quality control should include the website too by the look of things.

I believe that TVR have produced 3.6, 3.8, 4.0 & 4.2 S6 engines the early racing units were 3.8 wouldn't be supprised if there were a few 4.2 road cars around .
