If you read this forum it paints a horrid pic. for Tuscan/SP6 ownership. I love the tuscan and would like to upgrade but am so put off by the stories of engine failures. I can put up with a bit of loose trim, glue and niggles but dead engines is too much.

My question is, are there any objective stats. that show the % of failures vs. other tvr's or other cars.

Are the problems isolated to early cars 2000/2001?

I for one would love to see a true study published on this forum to gain an objective understanding of the problems.

I can run a simple poll if you like.

A poll would be great but I was wondering if there was a bit more broad and objective study that has been done over a larger body than just piston heads.

I am sure TVR has all the stat but will never tell.

A survey was done on the Tuscan Owners Group (Yahoogroups) a year or so back. Probably worth trawling those archives.

Would it be possible to include the 3.6 Speed six engine as used in the Tamora's and T350's in this survey.

The feeling I get from looking through this forum is that these are not experiencing the same issues but would love to know the facts before buying a Tamora. Would be good for all concerned if we could show to everyone that this variant of Speed Six engine is not suffering from the same issues and maybe quosh some of the negative feelings.

Ted,

may I sugest that someone on this form spend a bit of time and pull together the results of that study and any more that individual may know of in addition to your poll.

It would be good if the poll ran for more than just a day or two to ensure that you get the most responses possible.

Ted, is that still a "Closed shop" if so not much use to non Tuscan owners possibly loking to move to a newer TVR. Just a thought? Rich...

Potential owners are admitted these days I think.

I'll look into some of the options regarding gleaning the facts.

4L 2000 Tuscan Red Rose. Bought 5700 miles, Full engine rebuild at 8700 miles. Always burnt oil since I bought it which led to engine failure. Since rebuild no oil used.

Now 10,500 and gone back to Power as engine has problems again and might need a rebuild depending on problems (only 800 miles after 1000 mile run-in and service) Not happy right now

Changed HT leads due to missing under load which cured problem.

Most fun car I have ever had and love it...
