I have had a 2000 model Tuscan for about 3 months now and ever since i got it the brakes have squeaked. I know it sounds petty but it drives me mad when you pull up in the most amazing looking car ever and it sounds like you've got Mickey Mouse sitting in the passenger seat.

I took it the dealership that i got it from under warranty and was told that they had looked at them but to be honest it would probably come back.

About 5 minutes after leaving the dealership funnily enough it was back.

I need to know does everyones Tuscan have this problem or is it at least a common problem. Obviously not everyones does but is it common?

Thanks in Advance.

Mine don't squeak at all. They are silent at both high and low temperatures, braking hard or soft.

However, I do recall that older Tuscans had different brakes to the current Tuscan. I have a March 2003 Tuscan which has drilled brakes, I think most do but the inital Tuscans did not?

Maybe this could be a reason why yours squeal? Just an idea...

We've got a 2003 Tuscan and the brakes squeal quite a bit when hot.

Nothing to worry about, if they really bother you then get some copper backing plates.

Oh, and don't get Pagid RS14 pads, they squeal like crazy.

My 2000 Tuscan has un-drilled disc and they do tend to squeak, however usually after a good work out they are much quieter for a while.

My 2001 S squeeks when the breaks get hot. I have found if you break really hard it stops the squeek for a few minutes but it always comes back.

Its a wonder you notice with the engine noise. You could always rip the brakes off and attach a parachute.

Mr Freefall may be able to help with this mod

Take out the pads and put Copper Slip on the backs before re-inserting them back in to the calipers.

It is probably the pad squeeking in the caliper that causes the problem.

My Red Rose has never squeeked in 9,000 Miles and I have the Copper Slip on the backs.

Hope this is of some help

I've got the same age Tuscan S as Ed & Peter and mine don't squeak but when I went on the Keevle Tuscan track day they did squeak a bit under braking at high temperatures.

My car, October 2000 Red Rose so has drilled disks, used to squeak all the time, the dealer would add copperslip to the back of the pads and it would stop squeaking for a few weeks then come back again. However, recently, I have not noticed the squeaking at all. Now, during the last couple of years, I have had all the pads replaced, so maybe they have a new pad material which reduces/eliminates the squeaking? I don't know what cured it, maybe you could call Walldonway as they have serviced my car from new, so they may be able to tell you what they have done to cure it - they are on 01732 841021
