Evening all,

I have been saving up for a new car (still some saving to go!!) and I've fallen in love with TVR's - haven't even driven one yet!

I would like to know what people's opinons are on the tuscan S and the Cerbera 4.5 redrose. Which is best and which is fastest?

On paper the Tuscan S seems to be just ahead but the cerbie has more grunt.

Both are lovely cars but spending all that money - I need some help.

Cheers

Not driven a Cerbera, but own a Tuscan S.

To be honest, there isn't much in it performance wise - they are both extremely quick cars.

The only thing you can do is to try both, and see what you think of them - there is so much more to these cars than how quickly they can do 0-60.

I've driven both and own a Cerbera Red Rose. You are the only person who can answer this question for yourself by driving both.

You have indeedy opened up a can of worms Been many a debate on here around this question, you could search the threads on here.

All I can do is repeat below, only you can decide...they are both dream sports cars and every TVR is different but one thing...they all attract attention you would not believe! Ed is right...you don't need to review the 0-60 times, just by looking at them tells other drivers they are faster then theirs

Good luck in your hunting...Alan.

Well done for choosing TVR! Providing you dont mind the quirqs, the choice of which one has to be personnel.
If it is a speed thing - well thats realy down to how good a driver you are, you will get MEGA SPEED AND ACCELERATION LIKE NEVER BEFORE from both. They will both give you pleasure and fun, at the end of the day they are both TVR's and both worthy.
Choose you peril after driving them both. be aware if you are a first time driver the cerbie will be harder to handle and require more driving skill.

Good luck!

Being a Cerb Owner, I could give you pointers... But have never driven a Tuscan, so that would be unfair. IMHO anything that does 0-60 sub 6 secs is fast, 1 cocked up gear change & you are > 6 secs.
The beauty of the Cerb is actually the fixed roof! Even in this weather, with those spacial windows open, you get a good flow of air (& Growl) in the cabin.
Choose carefully my friend!

Granted both cars are exquisite in their own ways and this debate can rage until the cows have come home totally wasted, had a curry, gone to bed and got up with a hangover the next morning. However, each individual car has it's own idiosyncrasies and foibles that there can be a surprising difference in the driving experience between identically specced cars.
Fall in love with the appearance by all means, but my suggestion is drive as many cars as you can, then, once you've made your decision, drive a few more until you find one that 'feels' right. Don't just leap at the first one that comes within range of your budget.
Good luck in saving up and in your search.

They are both great cars, very similar in performance in every respect. Go and see as many as you can and I can assure you now the only reason you'll buy the one you do will be the colour

What for? The wide bodied T350C they're working on?

i think we have all privately considered this question amongst ourselves, personally i think they both have great but unique styles and of course nothing between thenm in terms of the performance.
The Cerbera, is an older car, and this is reflected in it's design. Tuscan, is relatively new and hence a more 'in your face' car with serious attitude. I prefer the Cerbera, just my preference. I like the fact that it's car with awsome power, looks a little scary and appears like a grown up's car with style rather than the 'Carlos Fandango' (guess that pre-date's me!) image the Tuscan delivers. I don't want to look like a boy racer, prefer the idea that i have a car that's got it but you don't have to flaunt it.

If you drive them both I think you will find that they are quite different and you will probably have a preference for one or the other. I set out to buy a Cerbera but liked the practicality of the Tuscan (big boot for touring, open air motoring) and my wife found the Cerbie a bit claustrophobic.

Ideally I would like both but one of the things I definately can't afford is a divorce so I have to stick to the "1 TVR at a time" maxim.

they're both awesome, and as others have said, try both before you buy.

Couple of easy questions will push you one way or the other mind...

a) do you need to carry sprogs around in it?
b) do you want to take the roof off?

There you go, whichever one you say yes to gives you the answer.

Worked for me and mate scotty ("all black" on here) - I've got two sprogs = Cerbie, scotty doesn't and he's a poser = Tuscan

Easy!!

cheers
Sean

PS whatever you choose, you'll love it!!

thanks for the help.

Looks like I've got some exciting test driving to do on both. It's a tough life.

off the top of my head 4.5 cerbera and tuscan s both had equal top speeds on the 2 mile straight at Bruntingthorpe (electronically times)

I take it you mean the T440R with the 550bhp? sounds awesome! but I've gotta take it steady to start off with. Get my TVR streak in practice first. Don't want to kill myself just yet.

Plus, sounds a bit too far outta my price range at the mo. one hopes to change all that soon.

Nope, not the T550 R....

Have in mind, that the Motorshow in May next year is is the last oppurtunity for 2 years time to show a new modell.

Maybe a Cerbera replacement.

Don't know anything, all IMHO of course

New dates for the Birmingham Show.

From the beginning of next year it's in May instead of October.
