Just reversed the Tuscan out of the garage for a damn good cleaning to discover several deep scratches on the nearside rear quarter. Bollox. Stood back to survey scratches and also noticed 255/35/18 Toyo on same quarter flat (only done 400 miles). Found a nail in the main body of the tyre. Luckily the one spare wheel I have is for this quarter (although not much tread on tyre). I've had tyres repaired before (BMW X5) and was told the repaired spot was stronger than the rest of the tyre. Has anyone repaired a tyre for such a high performance car? Is it safe? Alf, I know you had a nail in one of your tyres just after you picked it up - did you replace it or have it repaired?

Having changed wheels, went for a spin. Got home to find wisps of smoke rising from the front offside quarter. Smelt (I hope) like brakes. Checked oil and found level to be approx 1cm above min. Filled oil to 1cm below max last week and have only done 250 miles. Hope a rebuild isn't imminent. Still under wearranty until December.

Hope everyone else having better day.

Paul

Thanks Tony. I'll speak to Castle and see about changing oil. Service due very shortly. Still a little concerned about the smoke from the front nearside.

Wasn't it possible to repair the tyre Alf, or did you replace it out of your own preference? The annoying thing is the last Tuscan had a flat on a nearly new SO2 on the same wheel.

If I can remember right it was too close to the tyre wall so had to be replaced + I used the poxy tyre inflator foamy thing which once used screws up the tyre anyhow.

same for me, luckily car got me onto the drive, noticed rapid sound of air - shite** - really good tread as well on SO2's, 100% of all tyre places in aylesbury would not do a repair no matter where it was on the tyre, due to the speeds that the car can do, and the tyres are the only thing keeping you on the road, we changed to toyo's £300.00 for 2 plus £30.00 to get them fitted

luckily it wasn't a blow out!!!

Stortford Performance Tyres repaired the puncture for £15. They said it was strong enough to use on track. Scratches have been temporarily touched in pending a quote to respray the rear quarter. 12K service due soon so will get the engine / oil consumption checked out then.

Much happier today. Also ever so slightly p*ssed.
