I agree. I had it on my S and did not think it was worth the money. My car, although a 2003 model did not have the stubby ariel on the boot lid. I think the ariel was an internal affair that wrapped itself around the luggage compartment somewhere? didn't investigate much as I dumped the Pioneer DAB unit almost immediately.

Most DAB aerials need some sort of earth plane, even a piece of metal 6x6 will be of benefit, the bigger the better though. I understand that most are just thrown out of sight. There is also a new DAB combined with AM/FM but quite pricey at around £130.

I wouldn't bother with DAB. Even WITH a decent aerial it's still very lifeless and sterile sounding. The premise was good but they've crammed so many stations into the available bandwidth using harsh compression that quality has really suffered.....

I have DAB in the Griff and iam happy with the "sound". There is a book, which i get thursday, listing all available stations and maps of where in the country you can expect to recieve them. It certainly does seem rather "patchy", a bit like RDS when that first appeared, main towns covered but huge gaps around the country.

Have to say I have DAB in my new Tusc with ariel in boot but never use it! Prefer to listen to the engine and gasps as I drive around from other drivers
