Discussion
I have just had my engine rebuilt (details of which can be read in "Thanx a bunch TVR") and have a couple of questions that some of you may be able to help me with:
I have just found out that my car news new catalytic convertors but that TVR are having trouble getting any. Does anyone know of a company that makes standard cats, sports cats or cheap cats (for the MOT!)
Also, does anybody have any idea how many Speed 6's have been rebuilt (for cam and finger follower reasons)?
My rebuild has taken 14 weeks (!), apparently because TVR can't get hold of cams (the company that supply them (Rover) won't supply them any more) - what's going on at TVR - no cams, no cats?
Finally, what causes a catalytic convertor to break? Do they just wear out? Is 3 years as long as they last?
Thanks for your help!

Shamus, try www.haywardandscott.co.uk for various options on cats.
Shamus,
Pleased to see you have the car back - a bit of a bu$$er about the cats though.
They can be tempramental things and do not like short journeys as they do not get hot enough to work and burn off all the nasties they collect. Have you been using it for a lot of short (<10mile) journeys ? On the days I use mine for work I always drive home the long way (15-20mls) to make sure they get good & hot.

Guilty your honour!
I only live 5 miles from work - the oil rarely gets above 50 degrees!
Still, it will sound good without the cats for a couple of months!
By the way Bob, have you seen the remote control Tuscan in Argos? Same colour as yours too! Perhaps we should offer to park in their carpark for a couple of hours playing with the cars - maybe get a couple of freebies for our troubles!

I'm up for a freeby from Argos if you are but I wouldn't want to leave the car in the car park on idle for an hour or two - Too much cam wear. Oh and short journeys are v. good for cam wear too !
I would love to hear your beastie without the cats :Mmmmmm: and possibly with the addition of CCC cans as well
Will you be at the Avon on Sunday ?
