I would be careful! My car was making a squeaking noise and thought I had better stop and get a recovery truck to take it back to the dealers. I thought maybe I was being a little cautious but it is only 4 months old and didn't want to chance it.
Just found out that there is a problem with it and it is going back to Blackpool now. To make it worse Blackpool are closing down for a while so they might not accept the car until Sept and then work on it?! No car for at least 6 weeks?! Not happy as the car was brand new March 2003! Going to dealers at lunchtime to kick up a fuss. Not very happy right now!
My advice, if you are worried about a noise get it checked! Dealer said lucky I stopped when I did as there is no real damage but if I had carried on driving there could have been! Just be careful!

My car had been fine with no problems to speak of. It is my everyday car and so put quite a lot of milage on it (about 5,200 miles in 4 months).
The problem is a shaft that comes out of the engine, used to drive the alternator, has for some reason become loose within the engine and is now wobbling, shaking etc. Was told that it could have damaged the engine if I had carried on using it as something inside may have fallen off.
To fix it they have to take the engine to bits to get in there and reattach or something? Problem is the car has been running so well I hope it does not affect the balance as it was setup perfectly and ran like a dream?!
Just heard that, fingers crossed, the factory will accept my car and hopefully get it back to me in two weeks just before the factory closes for its summer hols. I will keep you all posted.
Still a little miffed but what can you do?!

Jeepers - that sounds pretty shocking !!
Mine runs a bit lumpilly (is that a real word?) at anything under 1800RPM (ie. 35-40 in 4th) but so far it's otherwise OK (apart from the odd diagnostic error code on the display and intermittant flashing gear change lights - apparently " they all do that sir")
Let us know what happens.
