Air con is £1975 as an option on a new Tuscan. For those of you who are dumbstruck, yes, it is £1975!! This seems very lumpy for what should be a car who's roof you take off when it gets warm outside. So the question is - if buying a secondhand Tuscan how important is it to get aircon? I know in my old Chimaera (which did not have AC)you had to be physically removed from the cockpit after more than an hours driving as you body became welded to the drivers seat. As i'm about to buy a Tuscan I would like to know whether the hot engine pumps as much heat into the cabin as the Chimaera and would welcome anyones opinion on the matter. Thanks

IMHO and with no regards to confort, I guess cars with air con have better re-sale value, don't they?
Or it might be different with TVRs after all...

Yes get air-con.

I have it in my Tuscan RR and it makes it much more pleasant place to be on a hot day, roof on or off in comparison to my Chim 500.

Is it really efficient with the roof off?

I wish you all the Best for 2002! Just make sure you don't need to take the wheel after New Year's Eve...

Nope never needed it.
I dont like the look of a tuscan with the roof off anyway, so spend 99% of my time with the roof on. Never needed it. The windows work fine for me.

Aircon in TVR's never works properly anyway, so why spend almost 2k on it. Enjoy the power rather than the power soak of the aircon.

Absolutely essential IMHO.
Without the engine heat soak is oppressive with the roof on and the noise and buffeting with the windows open unbearable on a long journey and ineffective in hot weather.

I'm getting it on my Tuscan S, after asking similar questions on forums. It seems that the heat soak on a hot summers day is just too much.

Depends what/when you use the car of course. If you're only going to be using it for nice drives at weekends/evenings you may get away without it, but using the car as a daily driver, which means effectively getting caught in traffic every so often would probably make it a worthwhile addition.

Also, the guy at Mole Valley said he'd never order another demonstrator without it after he got his first Tuscan (btw, this was after i'd already placed my order, and demanded from the off that it have air-con - so wasn't a sales ploy )
