Hi chaps. Just bought a speed six for the wife (yeah right.....) and was wondering if optimax or other super unleaded fuels make the car run any different or any hotter....the manual says as you'll all know "95 octane fuel only to be used......" (except for track-days etc).
Any ideas?????????????

I have run mine on 97 or Optimax when in UK or 98 when in Belgium/continent as the engine does seem to run better on it.Also I seemed to get a bit of pinking in warm weather using regular 95.

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers Nick for that. I'll run it on Optimax from now on........with a bit of AVGAS...not really. I race Legends on the ovals and they go like stink on optimax, CVL and a little AVGAS in the tank.
back to the Tuscan - just been serviced by TMS and they say the air-con's fine; i.e. gas level etc. Do they all blow-out tepid air and not chilled air? Is this the design of the car and the heat under the bonnet? Interesting to see your answers guys.

My aircon had the the same problem in fact it only blew out hot air.Took it back to Castle .They said cogs had worn therefore the flaps on the air ports didn't open/close properly. It now seems to be ok but I haven't been able to drive the car much since it was repaired. However the aircon only really works on Tuscans when the car is moving not when you need it most in traffic idling.

Working Air Con

My air con works very well and is ice cold both moving and stationary.

Maybe i am just lucky ?

2001 Tuscan Red Rose

I run on Optimax all the time and have no problems.

The car seems to idle better on it as well

Anecdotally, I reckon I get more to the gallon with Optimax thereby eliminating the extra cost. Must do the maths to check it out - on the other hand, who cares!

Have done over 6000 miles now and have always used 97 or optimax. Used 98 on the continent. Runs extremely well.

Air-con good but had a bit of trouble coping with excessive heat in France and Italy at the end of June.

Hope your wife enjoys her Tuscan as much as I enjoy mine.
