The Tuscan has taken to giving a strange knocking sound every time I turn the key to pre-ignition and engage the fuel pump. It definately comes from the engine bay, and there are always four knocks and then nothing. When the engine starts everything goes back to normal.

I'm pretty sure there's no trapped illegal immigrants in there so what could be causing it.

Any ideas...

Could be the heating/ventilation/Aircon ECU(normally stuck up the passenger side footwell) try switching your fan on at the same time and see if it stops TONY

I agree, quite possible the aircon (if you have it) or something to do with the ventilation system. My aircon occasionally makes a few funny noises, either when the key is first turned or just after you turn the engine off.

Funny you should say that, same thing this morning except it was accompanied by the passanger side vent blowing open so I reckon you're right...

Gives me something sensible to ask when I'm at the factory next week...
