An incredible amount of research and development goes into the additive packages that are already in the lubricants that you buy.
IMHO aftermarket additives are unecessary, expensive and could potentially upset the characteristics of your oil.
No doubt others will swear by them........

I was told the same thing - don't use any additives until the engine is fully run in.
I currently use Extralube ZX1 in my V8 Discovery, and I also used it in my Chimaera.
However, I've not quite decided about whether to use it in my Tamora, or how many miles I should cover before I do add it...

I have often thought about this (always a sucker for a bit of 'snake oil') for the various cars I had. Did a fair amount of research (even talking to a lubricants engineer at Shell (ok, so it was in a pub..)) I have pretty much come to the conclusion:
Use a quality oil & change it frequently (every 2-3k on my Griff and Cosworth)
