Boring oil question

My Tuscan S is on 3000 miles.
The oil needs topping up.
I'm sure the dealer used (at the 1000 mile service) and recommends Castrol Magnatec 15/40. The handbook says 15/40.

My only concern is it said on the shelf at Halfords, it was especially good for non fuel injected engines.

I'm sure it's ok, but thought I'd better check on here first.

Also, I have some old (maybe 5 years old) castrol magnatec in my garage. Would that be ok to use or does oil 'go bad' after a while if left standing?

Dont know where you got your car serviced, but TMS used the same oil on my 1k service recently, if thats any help...

Strange this one because i use Castrol RS 10w-60 which is fully synthetic and i thought was the oil that TVR had gone over to from Mobil

Magantec isn't a fully syntehtic oil is it ?

Well here at TMS we use a semi synthetic oil (Magnatec 10w40) at the first 1000 mile service. This acts as a running in oil. Then at the 6000 mile service we change it to Castrol RS 10w60.
