Keevil Insurance ?
Discussion
A number of people have asked about the need for insurance for the Tuscan Driving Skills Day at Keevil
I have just spoken to Chris at Competition Car Insurance. They will provide £15,000 worth of cover based on a £2000 excess for £218
If you really want cover then you should maybe consider this. Call 0115 941 5255 ask for Chris an mention it's the Tuscan Day at Keevil on the 14th July. If they get more than 10 he will reduce the premium to £200
I'm not advocating that you need this cover but i'm not saying that you do not need it either - it's your call
I personally won't be calling them if this helps, the event will be very strictly controlled.
It's you call !!
Hope this helps

andyvdg said: I don't quite understand why you wouldn't want cover. What happens if you prang someone else, they get injured (like an arm comes off), they sue you and you don't have insurance. You'll be penniless for the rest of your life!
Andy you'd be penniless anyway, it only covers you for £15,000, quite apart from that you sign a form saying that you take part at the event entirely at your own risk
So all you are covering is your own loss in the event that something goes wrong
Scary huh!!!
Simon
I think you are confusing personal liability with the car. Most insurances cover you for a few million quid. I think household content insurance might cover you - but you better check!
Editted to say I don't think you can sign away personal injury liabilities.

I think I've heard that too Graham.
I've checked with someone that used to be involved with personal injury claims and you can be liable if you cause someone injury on a track. It may be seen that as you are on a track day that damages would not be as great as if otherwise. If you sign something that says you are taking the event at your own risk that is between you and the track owners, not everyone else. All in good faith and without predudice / liability on myself of course
In other words, I wouldn't do this kind of thing without being insured!
Cheers,
Andy.
I'll hide now for bit for sounding like a lawyer.

I think people would rather know what they are letting themselves in for before hand don't you?
As has been said many times, the chances of you having any sort of incident are very very small, but they are still there and you need to make your mind up about the risk
It is a bit like knowing about TVR engine rebuild issues, there is a very good chance it wont happen to you, but you need to know it CAN happen and then decide if it is worth the risk - and we keep telling everyone to go in to buying a Tuscan with their eyes open, so why not the same advise for a track day?
Just my 2p worth!
