When I depress the brass heater knob
the blue air con light comes on,does this mean I've got air con? There is no obvious change in anything, saying that the car never gets uncomfortably and welds me to the seat like my Griff did.

No, all the Tuscans ever made have the same switch that lights up the blue LED. The only way to tell is to hear a click and the engine rev's change when running when you turn on the light - otherwise consult the factory or supplying dealer

The factory must have saved half a penny on each car to use the same switch on all of them.

Did you have your Tuscan last summer?

Every time a drove it for more than as hour I got heat exhaustion and needed a new shirt.

There was many a time when I wished that that little blue light did actually work.
