"Sony CDX-M1000TF, CD / Tuner. Let's face it, you cannot hear anything inside a Tuscan anyway so you may as well get something good to look at. This has a 32,000 pixel display and shows great selections of video and graphics, unbeleivable cuts of Ferraris, Subaru WRX's etc as well as loads of different equaliser displays all for a standard DIN fitting. It is just built for the interior of a Tuscan as it is totally black with only two chrome levers. Looks totally amazing! It comes with a remote control for all the massive array of functions. Mail order £372....£600 at Halfords......"
Decent speakers in the doors might be the next thing but not much else as it is a noisy cabin and I don't see the point of spending a fortune on ICE...my opinion, but I agree with you that the standard Pioneer stuff is "Astra" quality and needs dumped immediately on looks alone.

I am more than happy with the install I carried out. See post below for details.

I have since replaced the rear speaker box with a slightly larger version which also has a bass speaker in the middle. The build principle of the new box is the same apart from each speaker is in its own air space so there is a strut either side of the bass speaker to achieve this. These struts are as close to the side speakers as possible to make the air space behind the bass speaker as large as possible.
I have added infinity tweeters in the front shelf as Jarrets install to bring the sound forward. The speakers go through 2 amps in the boot (I would rather just one 5-channel amp but I had already installed a 2-channel amp for the rear speakers).
With the roof on the sound is nearly, but not quite as good as the Harman Kardman system in my BMW. This is mainly down to only having tweeters in the front and hence no mid-range. With the roof off and cruising at motorway speeds the sound level is still adequate although I do have to set the "Bass Boost" setting on my head unit to counteract the fact that the roof is off.
I have upgraded the head unit to a clarion MP3 player with a CD changer in the boot. I also have a 60gb m-startion MP3 player in the boot with all my albums available at a touch of a button.

Thanks Mondo....just trying to contribute to your original query. Its not naff but that is subjective, anyway....very Sony, with a plethora of different options and screens...etc. Won't bore you as you are not interested.

Paul's installation looks pretty good though.
Has anyone had any experiance with Leicester Car Audio? These are the guys that TMS recommend.
I had an install done by these guys a few years ago in a Rover Coupe. They did and outstanding job though I didn't have a massive amount done. I do know a couple of people at work who have used them for both extensive alarm and extensive ICE and they have been more than happy. I found you have to rein them in a bit though...

The sony is all show and no go... but it does depend on if you want to listen... i swapped the std unit for a Pioneer 6500 single cd - the latest oel version - much better sound than stock as it had a bigger onboard amp.. i am going to add a single 10 inch sub in a box behind the seats as and when tuscan v2.0 arrives - as v1.0 seemed prone to crashing....
There's a ICE engineer who does work on the cars supplied by Hawthorns in Surrey. Last time I was there he had a Tuscan where the complete lower door shelf/pocket had been built to accommodate a speaker in each and was even covered in material to match the rest of the car. Looked the business though no idea what it sounded like.
IMHO I'd much rather listen to the exhaust/engine, not quite as tuneful as the Chim's V8 but still sweet music!

Stereo Upgrades??? What next? Neon lights underneath and blue washer jet lights?
I replaced the standard unit with an Empeg MP3 player, 60GB of music at the touch of a button, then I put some rear speakers in a made up box on the rear shelf and an amp in the boot.....no idea if the sound quality is "good" but I can hear it, sing along to it (out of tune I must add) and have all my albums with me all the time - oh, and the missus can jump past all my tracks to get to the few she actually likes
Graham - baseball cap on with peak pointing FORWARDS!
