First speeding ticket - thanks TVR
Discussion
Got done for doing 81 in a 70 by one of those mobile camera units. Fair cop but TVR did have some part to play. Because of the faulty analogue speedo that gradually started to fade...losing up to 20mph compared to the digital speedo, I actually thought I was doing less than 70. Supposed to have been fixed now. Head unit had to be sent back to Blackpool to have the electronics sorted out. Took five days all in all.
As far as I know, it is an offence to have a faulty speedo (one that under reads is obviously going to show up more of a problem) - so could not be used as a defence against a speeding ticket. Not very fair I know, but that's the law for you. Whether you can get points for s faulty speedo though I don't know - I expect they have some offence code that can cover it too.
My speedo needle 'wobbles', I haven't seen a Tuscan that doesn't do that - so it must be down to the graduation of the 'aircraft grade' (to quote TVR) stepper motor that controls the analogue gauge. My Snooper S6 Neo GPS doodah informs me that my speedo consistently over reads by 5mph. Amazingly, it tallies more with the GPS speedo than my Lexus us does - so TVR's (in my case) is actually more accurate. Weird. But true.

If you did this the police could always say you were driving a defective vehicle, which is not unfair as if this was allowed every speeder would blame the speedo.Truth of the matter is that TVR should concentrate on function over form. While its very nice to have a stylish speedo the most important thing is that it works! The speedo on my Tuscan was worse than useless. So how about producing an accurate speeedo first then making it look flash.

Well, flash gets my vote (and money) every time. If TVR concentrated on functionality over form, you'd end up with a TVR Mondeo....nasty. We've done this to death on umpteen threads - the boys & girls in Blackpool should keep doing what they do best - automotive rock and roll. If you want easy listening, look elsewhere.

Quite agree but I do think they should work !!!!

I think this is correct, therefore, I did not see the point in contesting it. 3 points and 60 quid fine....could have been worse. Speedo seems to be OK now and relatively steady. Not noticed any wobble but difficult to tell as at "higher" speeds the pod vibrates slightly. Severity of the vibration depends upon the steering wheel position. In the middle position, the vibration is more noticeable than in the top position. Dealer informs me all wheels are perfectly balanced? I believe that this is not rare in Tuscans.....not severe enough to be of major concern.
