bye bye tuscan..a warning.
Discussion
the tuscan is gone... written off offcially by tesco insurance...
our jan 2001 tuscan has been written off by the insurer as they tell me it is a mk1 chassis (it has a small kink behind the now severed front offside wheel), the factory has no more mk 1 chassis - and a mk2 requires new suspension? so i assume this will apply to any of you with a 2000 car out there who have a minor bump...
shit happens.

Sounds like quite a hard shunt - are you alright ?
I've been trying to work out what difference it makes - they have to replace the chassis anyway - I don't see why they couldn't replace the mk1 with a mk2 - I think it's only the suspension mounting points are different. Maybe there are some different suspension bits you would need and it was enough to push you into their write off zone.

Yikes, that sounds harsh. I understood that the MK II chassis came in mid 2001. It is only the suspension pick up points that are different so a MK II 'should' fit a MK 1. I suppose if swapping a chassis though, it comes with new brakes and suspension already fitted by the factory - so will be a considerable portion of the car's equity tied up in it.
Are you OK then - must have been quite a bump. What happens now, are Tesco replacing the car with a used or new one?

sadly it was the wife.. but she is ok...was a low speed (30mph ish) spin on oil... the prob was the car flicked one way - she corrected - the wheels then moved off the oil griped and made it turn left into the hedge.. minor front body damage - only prob was ...the offside front wheel dug into the kerb and snapped off the hub and pushed into the chassis rail behind the arch bending it. if you saw the car (sat on the ramps at HLgorners) you would not believe it was a write off.. at least nobody was hurt.
Sorry just spotted this thread so ive duplicatrd!!
