Boot / Rear Screen Fit
Discussion
My Tuscan is 6 weeks old. From collection it had an irritating squeak from where the leading edge of the boot was fouling on the rear screen. The dealer has sorted this out ( to some extent) by adjusting the boot alignment and adding a rubber strip on the leading edge of the boot. Apparently it should have been there in the first place.
Do you all have rubber strips?
Any cure for squeaking from the edges of the rear screen where it meets the seals? Or is it just a new car that needs to settle?

Hi Tim - as Lady Topaz says this is very common. My car (2002) has a factory fit foam strip along the leading edge of the boot. However there was still constant squeaking from the screen somewhere. Dealer put a strip of silicon rubber-like tape along the top where it slots into the roll hoop and also another strip along the bottom where the screen touches the foam strip on the boot - just for good measure. Not a single scqueak since.
There was a load of oil put along the rear edge of the roof as well which was not such a good thing, as the first time I took the roof out it got all over me and the paintwork. I took all this off and put a nice neat velcro strip along the inside edge of the rollover hoop where it touches the rubber strip on the roof. Top job - as recommended in these very pages. No squeaks from anywhere now.
Folks have also used velcro on the rear screen too to erradicate squeaks, but this translucent silicon-type tape seems to do it for me.
Good luck,
Gary.
