Thinking of Buying a Tuscan

I am the proud owner of a 98 Chimaera 450. A very reliable car I use every day come rain or shine. However ever since I saw my first Tuscan I had to have one.
I have read about the reliability issues, and to be frank I am a little alarmed. In the Tuscan & Tamora forums there always seems to be a thread about someones speed 6 going bang. This is not a common occurence in the Chimaera and Griff forums where very few people report problems with the Rover V8.
I know sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get the thing you want, but honestly how many people on here who have owned a speed 6 engined TVR for more than 6 months have not had an engine problem?

All you need to do is read the following recent thread 'Who HASN'T had a mechanical problem?'...this says it all.
You will find that owners only raise their voices when something goes wrong, you don't tend to find owners who are enjoying their Tuscan to the full without problems writing threads on here....as clearly they are out in their cars
This is the same with anything in life matey.
I know various owners have had their problems and there is no excuse when you pay a tidy sum for a sports car but don't think its as bad is it may seem on here. As I said read the above thread and you get my drift. BUT as with any TVR these are hand built dream machines...you have to go in with your eyes wide open...in my view the benefits of owning far outweigh most of the problems you would experience.

Am i missing something here, some of you guys are getting excited about a Tuscan that has achieved 40,000 miles! As far as i am concerned a car that costs
over 40 grand, whether it be a Tuscan or Cerb, should be good for 3 years or 60,000 miles trouble free use. Its not a lot to ask from a manufacturer these days is it, perhaps TVR should start selling their new vehicles with 6 months, 6000 mile warranty, and perhaps a 12 months mot should be introduced just for the new breed of TVR's. I think it is disgusting that a manufacturer should sell a product that can't even offer its customers 12 months trouble free use.
Ok some cars will be troublesome, no matter who the manufacturer is, but TVR are having more problems with their cars than most by a long way.
Another point, i here many members stating here that it is acceptable that the first run of any new model TVR produce, be bound not to be right, because TVR are small and haven't enough financial clout to get things right straight off. What a load of bollocks! they had enough to develop 2 engines, (which they haven't got right, ajp is better than speed 6 though). Perhaps they should have forgotten about developing their own motors, and concentrated on quality control, and sourced a decent engine elsewhere. Just my opinion.
Oh and one further point, if cars produced by major manufacturers were going belly up in the manner that some TVR's have, they would be slated in the press, and customers would not sit back and take it. Many of you will take exception to what i am saying because you may own a reliable TVR at this moment, but others will agree on this issue especially when its a nice sunny day, your TVR is in a dealer, and your engine is back at the factory. TVR and their dealers need to get to grips with problems which are obviously affecting more than just a few cars, and stop hiding behind the excuse " Oh but TVR's are hand built sir, they all do that", and its a racing engine"
