Rear screen and wind noise
Discussion
Drove a Tuscan S demonstrator last night and one of the major differences I noted compared to my late 2000 standard Tuscan was substantially less wind noise coming from around the rear screen.
I upgraded my back screen with one of the new and slightly wider variety as fitted to current cars. Anyone know how to cure the noise as it only really happens at 60mph plus - but as I am driving, nothing I can do to have a look.........!
Thanks
Bryan

I have a 2003 Tuscan S and the rear screen leaks on the nearside. You can see there is no pressure on the rubber seal by the perspex. Despite attempts at a home fix to try and get more pressure on the seal, it is still no good and "lifts off at 70mph +. Basically there is not enough curve on the screen. Car's been off the road for 4 days now getting the instrument pod sorted down in Blackpool, trying to get the drivers window to close peoperly and, hopefully, they will have replaced the rear screen with one that seals.....but the dealer did mention taking a blow torch to heat the screen and try and bend it....not sure if they were joking!
Thanks - I see what you mean. Sounds like a case of variation between cars on this score. I do remember Simon at Leven talking about designing some new aftermarket clips - I'll have to speak to him at Back Home. Maybe a firmer clip design can pinch the window down more tightly and get a better seal. Should keep the rain out too. Let me know how you get on.

Bryan i was interested in the new colour coded screen apart from the looks have you noticed any advantage in sealing or noise at all in your car?Do you remember us discussing the front splitter/rear spoiler well after looking at a "S" at hawthorns today i have a cunning plan the splitter is so basic its untrue i will keep you posted. Right weres that patio table and hack saw gone!!!!!
Hi Tony.
The new screen is a better fit from the point of view that there are no huge gaps around the left or right hand edges. It is only a couple of mm narrower than the window aperture - so you can only put it in the right way. Still a bit fiddly though. In heavy rain (perish the thought of leaving my car out in heavy rain - what a wuss) - it 'should' provide a more weathertight seal. However, the wind noise seems louder than I remember than with the old screen. I'll have to do some swapping and fiddling about to compare.
Re the S bodykits - IIRC the front splitter has some sort of extra bracketry to strengthen the fitment of it so it does not get stressed and ripped off at high speed. That's only what I've heard as I have not got under one to have a look. I know Tivosi (?) offer a carbon fibre one for £280 - but If I did it, I'd want to make sure it wouldn't come off. Don't know if TVR's stance has changed on letting owners of the standard cars buy the proper S kit (- I know they have weakened on spider alloys and they should become available in 4 stud fit soon for Griffs and Chimaeras.)
One thing I am interested in though is a set of Nitrons/Ohlins - and would lower the car a couple of cm. It wouldn't help me if I had a front splitter though! Think it would have to be a choice of one or the other - and the damper upgrade would enhance the driveability more than a splitter. Just a thought.
