Who HASN'T had a mechanical problem?
Discussion
Naturally you tend to hear a lot more from people who have had problems, needing engine rebuilds etc, than from people who have been happily driving around with no problems.
So I'd like to hear from all of you who have had no problem which has required the car to be off the road.
Cheers

I will put my hand up to this one, I have only done just under 14K miles since September 2000, but mechanically it has had no problems (holding onto everthing wooden!!).Come to think of it the only item that has actually failed is one door encoder.Bit's of trim have come un-glued ,other items have been changed to improve the handling/sound & upgrades have been carried out ie roof catch, suspension uprights etc, but the engine has always run very well.

Come on, is that the best you speed six drivers can come up with? Please DO be bothered to post that you haven't had problems.
I was at the main dealers the other day sitting in the demonstrators while my chim was recieving some minor attention. I love all the current TVR's for different reasons, but I don't have the balls to risk the sp6 reliability.
I am fully aware of TVR's reliability history and went into ownership with my eyes open. But if TVR can't persuade an existing owner to trade up to a newer model they are going to have a job convincing anyone to transfer from another marque.
Tell me I'm wrong, tell me its only those with problems that post. Here is an opportunity to protect your residuals. Please prove that I have misjudged the situation. I'd love to start saving for a new Tiv.

Three years of ownership, two TVR's... Nadda! Not a single thing has gone wrong.
Hence the reason why if anything did, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest (mentally that is, not financially!).
A wise man once told me:"just do it, worry about it if something actually DOES go wrong"

With the Speed Six competing in Sebring, Le MAns and the T350 racing, TVR will learn a hell of a lot about it's new engine and engine design in general (for endurance and durability).
Thats how Porsche and Audi have such good engines. By competing in long distance racing. I believe the initial expense (for racing) will pay for itself in time...

No nasties with the engine on mine either (touchwood), got it 2nd hand (Jan 2001 model) and nothing in the handbook service sheets either. I'm presuming something would be written in there somewhere if it had ever had a rebuild. 10,500 miles and still going strong - 2 year/12000ml service is overdue though so that will be next month, hope I haven't put the kiss of death on it...

Hope this quote doesn't come back to haunt me.....
Did 24k in my last Tuscan - had engine rebuild @ 20k, and just traded-in for a new Tuscan S.
The engine issue hasn't stopped me from buying another - the pleasure FAR outweighs the pain - believe me!
My Tuscan is 4 months/1600 miles old - a few irritating minor electrical and body fit/latch issues (see profile for details) but nothing mechanical and certainly no worse than I expected. I've had worse problems a few years ago with a new Peugeot (company car) and more recently with my wife's Omega estate.
Nowhere near enough of a problem for me to be anything other than still smitten with the car.

Two and a half month old 1800 mile Tuscan S no problems a bit of hesitation when cruising but optimax has sorted that......HERES THE FUNNY BIT......NEW M3 delivered the same week has done the same mileage the car pulls to the left and the tyre presure warning light was faulty and the alloy wheel was damaged when they delivered it ....they did change the wheel.........
