Just pulling off the M40 yesterday (50 miles or so into journey) when speedo died on me with no warning -needle and digital readout both shwoing zero mph), leaving me trying to sneak glances at the Snooper for my speed.

There was a thread on broken speedos a while ago that suggested that newer cars have a different mechanism from original (supposed to be more reliable !) - my car is only 4 months / 1800 miles old. So it looks like another visit back to the dealers for a little more warranty work....

Anyone else with a recent Tusc had this problem and know whether it is a quick fix or not ?

Don't worry: it's a quick fix. Same thing happened to me. The sensor on the diff will either need adjusting or replacing.

And me. The new sensor has a notch in it which must be at the vertical. Only the factory new this. it should be a quick fix at no cost.
