Stereo upgrade
Discussion
I want to upgrade the stereo in my Tuscan. Currently I have a bottom of the range Sony CD-tuner with a pair of standard factory fitted speakers. I do not want to fill the boot with amps, subs & god knows what else, after all, thats where the golf clubs, trolley & roof go. I have seen the Ash Green Tuscan done by Decibels in Essex, and although a stunning job, well over the top for what I was looking for. All I really want is an upgrade to the head unit, not really interested in a stacking unit though, with better rear speakers, with possibly an additional pair of speakers in the rear, I don't think they are easily fitted into the front ?. I have been recommended the new V-drive Alpine CD-tuner, as this features an inbuilt 60-watt amp, which I could pair with a decent pair of Alpine speakers. Anybody done anything similar or got any suggestions (I'm not an ICE techy !). I'm just looking for a system which gives better sound than the one I have, which I can hear when going down the motorway, that looks smart and neat.
I would definately recommend Alpine or Infinity.
Getting tweeters in the front would involve fixing them to the shelf and running cable below the doors so I dont think it's too difficult.
There is a Tamora owner who has done the same.
I am looking to do the same with Pheonix Gold or JL Audio (Top Line) component speakers and amp. I'll stick to the same head unit cos the amp will sort me out!

I've fitted upgraded rear speakers and front tweeters in my Tamora, (and also recently added a 12 disc changer in the boot, as I used to drive around with the same disc in the CD player for months on end).

I had the rear 8" speakers fitted by Wentworth Car Audio as I didn't fancy cutting out large pieces of bodywork myself. However, I did install the front tweeters which was very straight forward and they came with a number of fitting options, (surface or flush, flat or angled), so I image that they would fit onto the front shelf in a Tuscan very well.
The sound is fantastic, but to be honest, I could still do with an upgraded amp for those very rare occasions when I have to exceed the national speed limit.

RobertM, your speakers look really smart & neat. Your rear speakers shown, have they replaced the factory fitted ones in the sides of the rear parcel shelf, or do you have those as well?. ie 2 rear pairs. As on the Tuscan, the rear speakers are fitted into the sides of the rear parcel shelf & I think you can also fit a second pair, in the positions shown on your pictures.

Mr.T, the upgraded rear speakers were fitted in the same position as the original speakers in the Tamora.
