A T440 in 18 months, but you'll be in the States in 12? You been on the wine too?

No, not until tomorrow night, if i cant et it over there then i will keep it here for when we are back in the summer, just very wishfull thinking.
I am under the impression you can have any car in the US for twelve months before you need to register it as a US car? any further info on that?

duhh, just realised after I emailed you about where in the States. Spent a bit of time cruising the coast from Santa Monica to San Diego, a Tuscan would stop traffic, especially in Pasadena on Saturday night or the 'Gaslight' area in SD, let us know how you get on, I'd love to chase some Vipers with the Griff out there
In the cold (sober) light of day....
When we were living in Australia we toyed with the idea of shipping a car back to Blighty. We were quoted about £2000 for basic shipping or £4000-£5000 if we had our own container. This was one way only.
Should be a lot cheaper to the USA but will probably still be over a grand (each way). A container is the only option with a Tuscan, you can't trust some pleb at the docks to drive your pride and joy on and off the boat
There must be plenty of specialist car shipping companies out there, give them a ring! You'll probably get a group discount!

Di I have posted a request in the TVR/USA Forum for somebody who knows about these things to come back with maybe some reality - wait and see huh! I think it's a great idea. Good story in the making this one.
I bet you could fly the b***y thing thre if you had a US Airforce contact, I know that their cars end up doing more air miles than land miles!!!
uuum!

Seem to remember one of my Caterham owning mates saying they were planning something similar. Think they were going to ship the cars over (2 per crate I think ). I'll try and find out more from him.

Hangover gone now, but this is a serious thread. Am thinking either me and hubby going alone, or maybe five or six TIV's if anyone genuinely interested. As said last night, dont know if trip is feasible, but if enough interest we are prepared to do investigative (see told you I am sober) work. My job is in travel so I can look at routes, costs, etc. Hubby into export/import so can suss out freight. We are thinking 2004 summer so plenty of time to arrange. Just think would be great. Anyone keen should have wicked sense of humour and pref mechanical skills
