Just picked up my Tusvcan at teh weekend and am now having to starrt paying attention to maintenance etc in the up and coming days/weeks. Main thing I want to resolve is the debate surrrouding oil type and usage.
Did a quick search on what oil to use and found alot of contradictory comments so thought best put this to bed.
TVR Manual recommends Mobil 1 OW 40 wheras some people recommend Castrol R 10W 60.
What should I use in my Tuscan S which has just had it's 12k service?

Ask the dealer who did the service what they used as it is not good to mix different grades. Personally I have a preferance for Castrol 10W60 as the oil pressure is better & oil consumption less.

How about a compromise? 0w/40 in the winter, 5w/50 or 10w/60 in the summer. Why is it bad to mix types?

It is possibly ok to mix say two types of 0W40 grade as long a they are both synthetic or both mineral ,but I am not sure what you would up with if you mixed 0W40 & 10W60 maybe 5W50? Anyway best to top up with what is already in there & if you are not sure change it although that can be quiet expensive as I found out last week!!
