Rev counter

The rev counter on my car has recently developed a habit of 'jumping' around e.g. goes from say 3400rpm to say 5500rpm and then back again. It sets the changeup lights off too (but the beeper doesn't go off).

Thought I would see if anyone had experienced anything like this before going to TVR!
