Really pi**ed off It seems like every kid wants a TVR dust cap. Yeah I know it could be worse but these things cost money. I am sick of replacing them only to find another missing the next day. Anyone else suffering and any solutions?

There's a lengthy thread on Yahoo TOG about this under the title 'vertically challenged criminals'. The solution seems to be secure dust caps from Halfords.

You can buy these dust caps that have a small grub screw meaning you can't just unscrew them with hands. They work until you want to take them off to add air and find the grub screw full of cr*p and you can't put the allen key in.... Not worth it therefore.

Uumm... Buy a big bag of cheap plastic ones...

Add a positive power supply to them and electrocute the t%ssers???

Good luck Andy

You can get very classy flush valve caps (which won't work on a Nova) from Demon Tweeks. Feels like spending a fair bit of money just to stop toerags nicking a few quids worth of valve cap, but they do look good

If it ain't bolted down, the little bugger's 'ave it, even the cheap metal ones from Halford (5 for £1.50) keep getting nicked off my runabout.

Thankfully the little sods don't often let the airout your tyres...

The ones I got from the TVRCC are supposed to be lockable, I got a keyring tool with them, but as tight as I wind it, I can always get them off by hand if I put the effort in.

They've a set in blue and silver which will match yours Di, you'll be able to see them when we catch up this week.

Excellent link mad-dot thanks. Looks like you have solved my prob. I would still like to catch the little sh**s trying to nick em and string em up.

I recently ordered a dozen spare chrome dust caps from TMS, which including P&P was only about £5. (I had tried some other styles but they looked too bulky IMHO).

I fitted four about 6 weeks ago and tightened them up with a 10mm spanner and they're all still there, (so far!).

In my cheapskate days if I lost a dustcap I would go down the local service station and could usually find several around the airline area.

Di - with ref to your chardonnay fuelled postings on Friday - are you sure you're not just shaking these dustcaps loose?! If so perhaps the corner of one of Mr Hotpoint's products would save the odd dustcap?

I had 3 nicked when my Tamora was back at the factory!
Kelly assured me they were on the car when it left the factory on the trailer!
She didn't seem too concerned that they went missing in transit saying that it happens all the time!
She sent me out a new set straight away.
Cheers....... Andrew

When I started the 'vertically challenged criminals' post, I never actually said that my dust caps were nicked - they weren't. What I was worried about was these little buggers skulking around my car late at night letting my tyres down and making threatening comments.

However, since we all started talking about missing dustcaps, 2 of mine went last night! However, they weren't TVR ones, just generic metal jobbies, so I've no idea why the kids would want them. Bought a couple of packs of plastic ones from Halfords today. If they take em, I put a new one on, end of story.
