speaker upgrade
Discussion
Hi all
Does anyone know the clearance (i.e. depth) of the area where the standard speakers are fitted. I am looking to upgrade and was recommended these:

I don't know anything about speakers, I just know the current ones are rubbish. Any help/advice appreciated.

The original Pioneer speakers are 48mm deep, the ones on the link are 10mm deeper so I doubt if they would fit. On my MK1 Tuscan I fitted some Infinity Kappa 4 inch speakers which were only 30mm deep and improved the sound considerably, available from Here .
The problem is on the MK1 Tuscan the speakers are really in the wrong place & it may be better getting some fitted in the rear bulkhead.

thanks guys. I think I'd like to try and replace the current ones first and see how much of an improvement there is. tbh, I don't want to drown out the engine note - that's one of the main attractions of the car - it would just be nice to hear something from the speakers when on the motorway because at the moment, when the volume is up, everything distorts.
I would also like to say a BIG THANKS to you both for all your help and advice when I was looking to get into TVR ownership - honest, uncomplicated and constructive advice - much appreciated. As you can see, I took the plunge, but with eyes wide open!
Cheers
Neil

Ancient thread resurrection but keen to learn from anyone who has replaced the original 4” pioneer speakers with either similar or slightly larger (6”) speakers in the same place. Really don’t want to go down the route of speakers in the rear shelf/bulkhead so very interested in current speaker options and depth in that existing area? I’m looking at a Focal set but the main speaker there is 72mm depth which I worry is too deep.
