Monday: Post trackday my car starts to run very badly. Stalls after refuelling and won't restart. Use old 'flooded engine' technique and eventually get it to fire. Stalls 10 times (anything below 3000 rpm) on 20 mile journey. Have to heal and toe all the way. Uses 1/4 tank of Optimax to travel that journey!

Tuesday: It seems that a wire has come loose within the engine bay, chafed on the aircon compressor and shorted out. This wire just happens to be the lambda sensors wires so that is why the car is running rich.

Wednesday: Fix the wire only to discover that there is no current to the sensors. Ran a gas test on it which showed still very rich - bugger. Topped up oil again! Using about 2 litres every 1000 miles - not good.

Thursday: Booked in car to dealer only to be told that the warranty will probably not cover any of this.

Friday: Had a day off from things going wrong on my car.

Saturday: Whilst cleaning the car and listening to the stereo the DAB unit fails. 2 hours of fiddling - no joy!

Sunday: Clean inside today and notice that the windscreen has cracked at the base. I had thought it had been making a horrible noise from that area so now know why!

Monday: Drive to petrol station ready to take to the dealer for the work on Tuesday. On way back, pull out of petrol station only to suddenly hear a very loud tapping noise coming from engine bay. Sounds like a follower??

Car sounds like a tractor and I'm crying like a baby (sob)!

And here was me thinking there had been very few posts lately about engine problems. Good luck getting these repaired at minimal cost to your wallet...

Bad luck. Are you still within the 2 year engine warranty (thinking about getting that tractor sound fixed) ?

Would have thought TVR would honour the warranty provided that your service history is up to date.

By warranty, do you mean an after-market warranty e.g. Warranty Holdings? (Reason I ask is that I am thinking of buying one principally for peace of mind in respect of the engine.)

yes it is a warranty through Car Care. I got 12 months as part of the sale but it has loads of exclusions and a £2000 limit for any single claim.
