Pardon an intruder - I've just popped over from the Griff gassing, as that's what I've got (at least since Saturday - had an S before) - but my brother has a Tuscan, so I'm asking on his behalf....

Anyone know details of any Tuscan recalls/mods or upgrades done by dealers at the request of TVR? Someone mentioned to me that there had been one, but my brother knew nothing of it. His is a Jan 2001 Tuscan.

Thanks!

Yes there was recall - something to do with front suspension uprights being stressed IIRC. A letter went out from TVR to owners about this. If the mod was done it will say so on the chassis plate mounted inside the boot. Cannot remember the time period but definitely included cars upto late 2000 as mine was done. Sorry don't have any further details but I'll look them up unless someone comes along with more info in the meantime.

Found it - but it is not alot of help. The rcall letter from TVR is 'Date as postmark' so I cannot put a time on it. It also quotes my VIN rather than a range so I cannot pinpoint what cars it relates to. The descrption given is "Ongoing quality assessment of our vehicles has identified a possible safety related corrosion problem on this model, within a specific production range. The front suspension upright can suffer from an excessive build up of corrosion adjacent to the wheel bearing bore that can cause the suspension upright to crack and ultimately affect steering control."

I think if in doubt, contact a TVR dealer for advice. I also remember that on the Yahoo Tuscan group there is a bulletin with outstanding VIN numbers that the factory want to trace - also worth a look.
