2 year service

Just got quoted £999 for a 2 year service --cars done 6300 miles. Anyone else got a better price from a dealer in London/Essex

That is obscene! I have my car booked in for its 18K service at the factory - £420 is the basic price, inc VAT. Of course there will be bits needing doing as well, but £999 - crikey!

Edited to say - that will include having the tappets done won't it - so I suppose that is actually realistic in hindsight!

I think 2 years == 12000 mile service which is change and check everything including gearbox and diff oil, tappet adjustment.

I think dealer prices for 6000 mile service are around £700, 12000 mile around £900, depending on how much tea they drink during the day.

Still, it's a lot of money.....but much cheaper than a Rarri or Lambo. I'm sure the Turbo Porkers will claim they get charged about £170, so let's not go there

Try speaking to John at Racing Green... Might have some money left over for a sports exhaust

Try Offord, they advertise here and are in Cambridge. I dont know anyone that has used them for the speed six, but it seems lots use them the the V8.

On the web their price seem very resonable

I HAD THE TAPPETS DONE DURING LAST YEARS SERVICE--WILL THEY NEED TO BE DONE AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER 3000 MILES???

I shopped around prior to the 12k service (Mole Valley, Henly Heritage, Westover, Castle, Dream Machines, Racing Green). The cheapest main dealer service was with Hawthorns, Farnham @ £911 inc vat - included valve clearances and tappets etc. Some dealers I called wanted £400 for the valve clearances and tappets alone!
Bloke who cought my old Chimp took car to Offord for 12k service - came out at less than £400 including MOT, so well worth a try.

Should be between £100 and £200. Maybe they have biscuits with their tea.

I wonder how much work is invoved in a service? Oil plugs, filter etc. You would think that you could do it in a few hours and certainly a day............
