Can someone tell me the make of the alarm/immobiliser on the Tuscan's?

If in doubt specifically for a 2001 Tuscan S

I think all the new cars come with Meta 99T's.

If this is for the insurance, they are CAT 1 approved...

You should have had a spec sheet from your dealer on the alarm to show your insurance co if required.

Or, at the very least a letter from the factory which is what you get with a new one...

I haven't got the car yet!!

Just thought you knowledgeable people would know rather than having to ring the dealer up..

I am picking up my new Tuscan on Thursday and already have the certificate for the alarm / immobiliser. It is a "Meta M99-T2" and is actually two units linked together. I THINK they have always been this unit...

Most insurance companies recognise this make / type of alarm, I can recommend Tesco who gave me an amazing quote and had this alarm on their selection list when getting an on-line quote.

Had to speak to the dealer anyway who confirmed it was the Meta 99 T2, thanks for all the advice guys..

PB - TESCO are also giving me a fantastic quote which makes no difference whether it is garaged or on the street, great news, thoroughly recommend them.

What sort of quote did you get from Tescos? I've just got one for around £1450, parked on drive in N/E London/Essex, but they have asked for a tracker to be fitted.

I found that Tesco’s sometimes asked for a tracker and other times did not, I think it depends on the various options you have selected, garage / street etc...

I live in Ipswich and the car will be parked in a garage overnight. BUT... I am a 22yrs single bloke and only have two years no claims bonus! Also had an accident a few years ago so from an insurance point of view I am their worst nightmare! Especially when you are talking a brand new 360bhp sports car! Having said that I got a quote from Tesco for £1,700 fully comp which I though was pretty good as the next best quote was £3,800?!

Edited to say that the quote from Tesco was without a tracker being fitted!

My online quote is for about £1200 , I am 30 (3 yrs NCD) and in NLondon (well Barnet actually) and is for on the street..

It never asked me if a tracker is installed, should I be worried?

Fitted as standard are the Meta M99T2 and the Meta M36T2 as stated on the letter supplied by TVR with all their new cars. Hope this helps. Tony Abrams.

Salty, I would not worry about it... They did not ask me for a tracker either. When a mate had a go to see what sort of quote he could get it did ask for a tracker but he lived in a different part of Ipswich so I can only assume that location makes a difference too.

I think various factors come into it when they decide whether to ask for a tracker or not. My advice to anyone who tries the on-line quotes is to keep playing with the values! For example try on the road and in the garage, whether you have one or not, just to see what, if any, the difference is. Obviously don't lie when taking out the policy but it is worthwhile seeing what parameters affect the price the most!
