Ok - I never bought the Tuscan for it's superb fuel economy , but now the speedo/trip is working again I've worked out the fuel consumption on my last tank of bog standard unleaded: 48 litres for dead on 160 miles, which works out at a smidge over 15 miles a gallon . Ok - most of my driving has been commuting, consisting of eight miles of nice twisty country roads (usually blocked by pootling numpties in Suzuki Wagon R's ), followed by another eight or so miles of nose-to-tail rush hour traffic as I crawl down the A610 into Nottingham.

So is it the type of driving purely to blame? I must admit I was expecting a little better - at least an average 18 mpg I'd be interested to know what other folks get, particulary for the same kind of driving.

Mine was supposed to be a weekend car, but is used every time I'm not working. So it gets a lot of stick on A's and B's and just a few motorway miles, however I always seem to manage 20 - 24 mpg. Its a 4 litre 360bhp by the way and a hell of an improvement over my old 5 litre chimaera which never made it over 17mpg.
That said, both drink more Mobil 1 than Unleaded!!!!

mine is a Red Rose and I can always do between 230-250 miles to the tank. 160miles sounds a bit low.

What is the tank's capacity?

Full tank is 56 litres. Obviously I measured from full tank to full tank on how much was needed to fill up and how many mile were covered.

At an average of 110mph through France I returned 24.7 mpg (208.2 miles on 38 ltrs)

More economical thant my 4ltr Chimp.

Mines a 4ltr Red Rose. I think the Tank is 56 Lts with fuel to the top of the filling hose

Working the fuel consumption out on mine on a run it appears I get about 25MPG, other than that I don't really know just fill it up when it gets low.

On a 850 miles round trip to Scotland, I averaged 27 mpg. No complaints. I cannot believe you only got 15 mpg! Is it running a little rich?

I think this is something that warrants more in-depth investigation and a chat with the dealership

This doesn't sound too bad to me. If I'm commuting I get between 16 and 17 mpg. On a longer motorway run I can get up to 22 mpg. Let's just say I don't always drive it at the optimum speed for fuel economy

Cheers,

Andy.

I wouldn't reply on any trip computer - the only correct way is to "brim" the tank - drive it using the odometer to get the milage, brim it again and work it out that way.

Flow meters are notoriously inaccurate in all cars...

Just been to Blackpool and back to the New Forest - 568 miles @ average of 24 mpg - this is the first time in 2 years of Tuscan ownership that I've bothered to find out. That equates to about 18 mpg for my commuting!
Managed to squeeeeeze 54.5 litres in at last fuel stop - my girlfriend was seriously STRESSED at all the 'bleeping' and sat with her fingers in her ears for the last 10 miles!!

That's exactly how I did it - there's no trip computer in the Tuscan, just the trip counter and the meter on the petrol station's fuel pump.
