I have noticed on some of the Tuscans for sale in the classifieds that they have had engine performance uprated to RR/S spec. Now, I may be getting hold of the wrong end of the stick - but if I am getting this right, they are tuning/modifying the 360 bhp 4 litre upto 380/390 bhp. Can anyone confirm that they have had this upgrade done and what the practicalities of it are?
Thanks
Bryan

I collected mine on tuesday of this week, it,s a 4.0L tuscan speed six, which I specked up myself back in November. I suppose strictly speeking this car should,nt really exist as TVR only give you the choice between 3.6 tuscan & 4.0 tuscan s. In reality however the company do seem more flexible, especially considering the current economic climate. My situation was simple. I wanted the "s" however my budget just could,nt sretch that far. Also there is a lot of standard gear on the "s" that frankly I could,nt be fussed about,( ie: matching boot carpets, hydratrack etc..etc..)Don,t missunderstand me,there,s nothing wrong with any of this stuff I just did,nt need it. However I did want the 4.0L motor & several other bits & pieces found as standard on the "s". It was my experience that as a serious prospective customer, the factory was only to wiiling to acomodate my requirments. Maybe there are more people like me out there than meets the eye, mixing & matching, hence some confusion over this size & specks.ulitimately I think we,re very fortunate to be able to speck things right down to the nuts"n"bolts(so to speek)& get just what we want. Try doing this with some of the competition,Yes I think we all get the picture...kind regards to all,Ian..

Where I am coming from is - if you a standard 360 bhp 4 litre engine, has anyone had this converted into RR/S spec retrospectively and uprated the performance to 380/390 bhp?

I have a RR conversion, cost about £3750 + vat. I think it's now the 'S' in reality. I think you get the upgraded Suspension and brakes 18" wheels, and the extra power from the engine and 4.0. There is also debate on the engine size in Tuscan being 3.6 or not. The s has further suspension upgrades and front and rear spoliers and some interior differences.

I've never drove a 3.6 360bph so I can't tell you if its much better, but this thing sticks, stops, and goes like a rocket. Aparently the finger follower problem was also solved on the RR, but that's only hearsay!

I don't think the engine can be done cheaply if not specced when new. I guess the brakes would be expensive to replace as well. I understand the suspension can be modified though, although not the pickup points.

The finger followers were not fixed on the RR/S.

Personally I don't think the engine difference makes much of a difference but the suspension is very much worthwhile.

On the std car I also found the brakes needed to warm up which I found very disconcerting.

The aero kit is a must on the autobahn, but pointless if you don't go much over 140mph.
