Taken the plunge. New Tahiti blue Tuscan will be on my drive on Thursday. Faithful old E-Type will be going in reverse direction after 8 1/2 years.

I hope by buying a new one I'll minimise the risk of ownership?

Too excited to sleep. (Pathetic at my age).

Is it a 3.6 engine? how does it compare to the 4.0l: noise, rev limit, torque delivery?

I agree on buying new, its nice to have the spec you want and takes the uncertainty out of repair costs (at the expense of depreciation).

No it's a 4.0. My dealer had 2 new cars in the showroom, both 4 litres and says he has another 4 litre on order for April. His almost new demo is also a 4.

Well done!

I thought all new 4 litre Tuscans were 'S's now, and the 3.6 was standard?

Try and get some good pics up as soon as possible, as I failed to do 'cos of my buggered scanner and computer (Haven't got a digital camera as I can't now afford it after buying the Tuscan in October).

so you can,t sleep, feel just like a kid on christmas eve......I know the feeling, I pick mine up tomorrow,& can,t wait.will post pics & info tomorrow.p.s it,s a 4.0L I specked that engine size when I ordered it. Thought price might hold up better long term??????seemed like a good idea at the time. It,ll be interesting to see how prices pan out long term visa/vee engine sizes etc etc.may not have any effect at all, just have to wait and see.

Good for you Danny. Look forward to seeing your pics, I'll take some with my digi when she comes. It's due to snow here Thursday and I don't fancy that(ooh er missus) so she may have to stay in the garage for a few days.

The car arrived on Wednesday, beating the snow by 12 hours. Did a quick 60 miles and tucked it up in the garage where it looks like staying for at least a few days until the snow and ice has gone.

I have to say it looks stunning in Tahiti blue with cream leather and the sound is awesome.

Running in is going to be frustrating but I'm determined to do it properly. The handbook says max 3500 for the first 250 miles and max 2500 until the engine is fully warmed up. That's ( changing up at 2500) quite difficult to do without labouring. If anyone has any running in tips I'll be pleased to hear them.

Walked into Logik near Dunfermiline for an oggle at the Tamora and walked out with a brand new Tuscan S....moonraker black, portland grey leather. Really nice spec. As for running in I have done the 250 miles before the snow hit. I set the rev lights for 3200, 3400 and 3600. This helped in keeping the addictive revs down!

ghunter,

Although my Tuscan 'S' is still being built up at Blackpool I'm curious as to how you change the rev lights....can you do by yourself..I didn't realise you could change the settings. I think I would do the same as you when running in.

Alan.

Can you set the lights down that low now ? On earlier cars you couldn't set below 5000rpm.

Its really easy and in the owners handbook. I think the lowest is 3000rpm. Owners handbook is a bit out of date I think. There is no longer a default screen for the digital display. It just fires up onto the last screen you were looking at (either that or mine is knackered). Faults I have had since new are as follows:

Driver window jammed in the lowest position - hauled it up by hand and since then it appears to be running smoothly - will get it checked at the 1000 mile service.

Battery went flat - seems this is common and Logik Motorsport gave me a battery conditioner and adapter plug/ leads free, good lads. Must have been deeply discharged as it is still charging after 18 hrs.

Fog light switch jammed in the on position - this is a sneaky one as this switch in combination with the digi display option switch lets you set rev lights and other parameters. With the fog jammed in, when I turned on the ignition the computer thought I wanted to set up the display and said "awaiting data"....had me stumped for a day. Another one for the first service.

Apart from that I have spent some time cleaning away fibre glass dust etc from all the nooks and crannies.

What a car! .....can't wait till the snow goes and get some more miles on it.
