Anyone had any problem with boot switch. If so can you offer any advice. Mine keeps failing intermittently which can be very inconvenient when re fuelling.
ps. I've worked out how to get in to the boot when this happens!

Don't mean to sound patronising but if you press the button more towards the top.

I spent 5 minutes pressing all over the button until I realised it's best to press at the top!

Then once I managed it I then struggled for another 5 minutes with the bloody fuel cap (Now have a Leven one, smart!).

Good Luck!

I've found that my button works best if you press it near the top right.

What exactly is the problem with the fuel cap? Mine is easy to take on/off.

I found sometimes with mine that it wouldnt open if the windows were still winding up after shutting the door. ie the green LEDs were still flashing.

I had a similar problem with the boot switch on my Tamora, which I believe operates in the same way.

However, soon after getting the car, I swapped the original badge for a Leven one, and when fitting it, I took some time adjusting the badge so that it was only just clear of the microswitch behind and now it works perfectly every time, with just a light touch, (unless it's frozen, as it has been the past few days ).

Out of interest, where is the boot light switch and how do you get at it.

I think mine might be staying on and flattening the battery. I'll have to get the wife to shut me in the boot later, can't see her having any problem dith that!

I think the boot light switch is within the boot catch/lock mechanism, but I can't check that as my Tuscan is in Blackpool. I’m not too sure how you get at it though.

To check if the light is staying on (apparently quite a common problem), have a look at night. If the boot light is on you can normally see it shining through the fibreglass in the area around the boot badge. I expect it’d be more difficult to see on dark coloured cars, but on my red Tuscan it’s really noticeable.

My boot light only comes into operation if the sidelights/headlights are switched on - which seems senisble really. Is mine different - Oct 2000?

I suppose it depends who wired it up My boot light comes when opened regardless of side lights/headlights.BTW when my boot light is on the number plate lights are also on, so thats another way of checking "on mine anyway".

An apparent problem, brought to my attention by Hawthornes. Boot light stays on, battery flat!. My car tried to inform me by sounding of the alarm!!

Thanks chaps.
Checked it out, my boot light is with the number plate light and comes on regardless of light swith position, and it goes off fine also.

I have had another look and cannot find a boot light at all!!!

There is a round plastic 'lid' type thing on the edge nearest the rear of the car that rotates but I can't get off. Is this where the boot light would normally be?

The "round plastic lid" has another function.

They may have covered yours over with carpet it happens a lot with the footwell vents!!

Thanks Nick, I'll speak to the dealer about the lid.

I tried the link but it didn't work unfortunately.

Thanks Nick. It looks completely different to mine!!!!

I have a cd changer in the opposite side, my 'plastic lid' is also on the opposite side and I have a 'shelf' on which the roof panel sits which is just above where your light is! I don't have a light located behind it!

I think i'll keep a torch in the boot!

Thanks again.
