I believe I''ve now permanently solved the squeeks from my rear screen. Time will tell of course. I cut 3mm x 25mm little strips of self adhesive velco which I have stuck along the top of the window where it hooks under the roll bar. These were wrapped around the edge of the perspex so you have little strips about 10mm long above and below the perspex at 90 degress to the edge. It provides a sort of bearing so you don''t get perspex to GRP rubbing. I only had to put five strips on, spaced at about 6". If anyone can understand this I hope it will get rid of any annoying squeeks. The strips aren''t visible when fitted.

Right I'm back from hols and driving a car with more poke than a 1.4 again - great. I've had to modify my origional fix but I've done it tonight and put 5 -7 miles on it and there are definately no SQUEEKS and it is invisible when the window is fitted. Here goes, basically fix a 1/2 inch strip of self adhesive hook velcro to the top tongue of the rear window all the way across. You will need to cut the occasional little triangle out of the velcro to allow it to go round the curve, especialy near each end. This stops the perspex from squeeking against the unprotected GRP. You only need the velcro fixed to the top as the bottom has a rubber strip fitted. I would post pictures or digrams but I don't know how to do this. So if anyone really needs a piccy or diagram e-mail me and I'll see what I can do. If not I'm going to the Hexham Horseless track day at Croft on 12th Sep and you could collar me there. I'm a GTS Viper blue Y plate Tuscan (16" wheels) Have fun Edited by fish on Wednesday 22 August 20:50 Edited by fish on Wednesday 22 August 20:53

Hi there, No need to use velcro strips, what we use is silicon spray, every time we take the window out we spray some silicon onto the ruber seals which stops the squeeking. hope that helps, Edited by tedstar on Friday 31st August 13:08

Fish

Sure you mean the hook side of the velcro and not the soft oponent?
I was going to do this at the weekend but then had doubts about the Hook sided tape.
I'd be grateful to hear back!

I've tried it both ways, hook and soft side. I've now settled for the soft side allthough it worked both ways.

The soft side is probebly the slightly better way.

If some one can tell me how to post a picture or e-mails me I'll send them some digital pictures of mine.

It's now been done for a few thousand miles and there are definately no squeeks. I have also put two little patches on the black clasps as well.

I've dug this one up so that it surfaces with Salty-nlv's similar question about the rear screen squeak

Good method Fish - i'm going out to do the same

Not that I have a Tuscan but I swear by spray on silicon lubricant, as sold by John Lewis to lubricate curtain tracks. Use it on door rubbers hood seals etc. to stop all squeeks and rubbing noises! Rich...

I just put some very small pieces of selotape on the rear screen where those two plasticcy clips contact with the window. That's stopped it on mine.
