soprts car exhausts like the TVRs generally are of the absorption type rather than restrictive baffle type, these absorption ones are psrticularly good at silencing a low but continuous stream of gases exiting the system such as at idle or part throttle, but bad at silencing loud pulses such as at full throttle, hence most louder systems make most effect at large throttle openeings and least effect at idle. If you want a loud idle you'd have to experiment with a resonator which worked at that particular frequency. Someone might have a programme to work size and position of such a box out, but woulod imagine even then there'd be an element of trial and error involved. Plus chances are anything which increased the idle note would also increase the full throttle note aswell.
