Heater blower motor?

Help please.
I've had a re-furbished ECU.
I've changed the electrical connectors at the motor and sprayed electrical restorer into the grill of the fan.
After above, the blower would do a 'puff' at ignition 'ON' and then blow continuously - happy bunny!
Now it's reverted to "well, I'll work after a while, maybe after a road bump".
I'm suspecting the blower motor is getting old/brushes worn/bearings corroded or worn?
Can anyone advise what donor car it was from?? I'm thinking of changing the blower unit.
They do get a lot of damp and crap thrown at them, situated as they are, in the void between inner/outer wing and zero baffles in the intake side to prevent water/debris reaching the unit.
