Late Tuscan market at the moment?
Discussion
I have a very late 56 plate Mk3 Tuscan S and these cars always seemed to be unicorns as there was so few made and very rarely coming up for sale, especially the S.
Even now I can only see one for sale but there doesn't seem to be much interest from dealers wanting to take them onto stock. Is that just because it is winter and they know they will be holding it on their books for the next three or four months before summer picks up?
I think mine is one of the better ones out there and looking to move it on. However, obviously not going to give it away, so would rather hold on until summer to sell it if there really is no market at the moment due to winter and Christmas.
Any thoughts?

The season won’t help, but prices are generally trending downwards due to the economy in general.
Dealers are never going to give you a good price to buy your car as that’s their margin that’s affected. Quite a few dealers operate on a sale or return basis now, sounds like that might be the better option for you if you want top dollar for your car.

Hang on for a good price ... 2006 TVRs seem to meet the ULEZ criteria , so must add £000s to their value for anyone in the London area .
Wow that sounds fantastic. So in years to come you can pop in and out of town without a care in the world.
Some TVR are marvellous.
I’d be checking that out. Must add 5K
Prepare it and sell it during early summer or indeed go for sale or return with a dealer who might have customers in the back ground looking for certain cars so well worth talking to them.

Yes I live in Central London and mine is ULEZ compliant. I'm happy to move mine on as I have something new incoming but I guess it is just finding someone who wants one. I think they only made 18 Mk3 and 9 S models so I guess if you want one they come up so rarely it should be regardless of time of year etc, but dealers don't seem to want any inventory atm.
So close to Christmas doesn't help.
I’d take detail pics and hang on until spring then contact all the dealers or indeed advertise it yourself at a fair price.
My friend has become quite the savvy seller of specialist or rare cars.
He buys them knowing it might take some time to sell or find the right buyer.
His mentality is he likes having top cars around to look at and it adds kudos to other lesser sales.
So he holds out for his price and penny to a pound eventually he sells it for exactly what he was hoping for.
Someone always comes along.
In today’s market there’s a risk this time next year the car might be worth less so not the strategy you might employ but selling specialist cars can take time and that’s the reality.
Be patient and if it takes 6 months just make sure you advertise it in different places and sooner or later someone will bite.
Priced to sell is probably the most likely thing to work.

If you’d like to get it gone before spring, it might be an idea to put it on privately, for a brief period. As you say, these are very rare so any serious Mk3 buyer will be looking regularly and often, year round.
If no interest after a short time, just take it down and wait for spring.

What was different about 2006 TVRs to make them ULEZ compliant, do we think?
Nothing at all. They were registered incorrectly.Edited by glow worm on Friday 15th December 15:40

In what way were they registered incorrectly ? Because mine was registered incorrectly as a PC and I got the DVLA to correct it to a PLG in 2008. Then changed again in 2013 when I up'ed it to 4.5 SS .
PLG / etc has nothing to do with ULEZ compliance, which is purely about NOx emissions. I don't believe any Speed Six will meet the requirements - unless I'm very much mistaken?Edited by glow worm on Friday 15th December 15:40

I wonder if such a thing as a serious mk3 buyer exists. There’s already 1 of the 9 cars available, and has been for a little while…so one might assume that one would have been snapped up already. As you say, these are very rare so any serious Mk3 buyer will be looking regularly and often, year round.

If the OP puts another one up for sale, I would imagine it’ll drive down the prices (at least until one has sold).
Unless the OP’s car is an amazing colour , the other sale car is a lemon, or something …

It was just a suggestion. It’s up to the OP.
Yes of course, sorry didn't mean to cause offence. I was just musing if the value is derived from the rarity swisstoni said:

Yes I think this is what I'll do. Mine is Spectraflair silver which I think is much nicer than the one advertised, TVRs need to be in fun colours! I've also had full Str8Six maintenance since I've owned it about 13 years as well as the half time bearing upgrades etc etc so it is a very good example. As you say, these are very rare so any serious Mk3 buyer will be looking regularly and often, year round.

I'll advertise it out there and if someone is looking for one then great and if not I'll hold on to it. I always said I'll never sell it as you can't find another one if you wanted to, so if it adds to the collection I won't be upset in the least.
I sold my MK3S to Str8Six although this was over five years ago now, and they moved it on for over £60K, without really advertising it. The new owner hardly drove it an it was sold by Amore last year for less than £50K, they advertised it as the last one made although it certainly was not as was first registered in July 2006 and there were factory built ones after that. There was emissions data on the V5 not sure if this makes any difference to the ULEZ issue, but mine was also registered as PLG.
