Leaking roof - how to fix!
Discussion
Hey all,
Praying for help as I’m struggling with leaving my Tuscan in the rain at the moment - either I have to fix the seals or will need to use a cover every time it rains- I’d rather fix the root cause!
I just tried replacing the rubber strip on the targa and it’s worse! I’m in a bit of a muddle…
2001 Tuscan.
Roof has two channels one each side, pax side much better sealing than the other, but I can’t work out why!
Rain seems pools off roof and into the channels, but on the drivers side it somehow deposits rain via underside of the targa seal, inside the window (front corner), and into the seat. But I can’t work out what path the goddam rain is taking!!!
1. -I’m thinning of replacing the rubber & flocking on the roof to make it nicer (water wicks up inside and has damaged the flocking) - does anyone know where to get the rubber that’s glued over the flocking? I’m wondering if rain is getting into the the underneath of this rubber (about 40mm tall strip bit of rubber) from the channel somehow.
2. Does anyone have any tips as to exactly what I should be trying to do with the seals, there are like 5 bits all coming together at the front of the car and I’m not sure how to align and seal things
I just want a dry bum.

- Annoyed and beaten by stupid seals.
I just want a dry bum.
Is it the seal that meets up with the window glass on either side?
2m will do it. Search for:
FINNED TOP BOOT SEAL - Rubber EDGE TRIM - Van Boat Truck - Door Bonnet Per Metre
I changed these and the main 'hoop' long rubber seal to cure all my leaks. This long seal required 9m.
Search for:
Universal Large Car Door Rubber EDGE TRIM SEAL - Van Boat Caravan, classics,
Let me know if you need any close-ups of the targa edge bits as there was a bit of black sealant filling to do to finish things off. I basically reproduced what was on my car orginally but my seals had perished and split allowing water mainly into my passenger footwell.
Hope this helps.
